A droid was in the possession of Kho Phon Farrus, an archaeologist who was on a quest for relics belonging to the Ascendant cult. Farrus kept the droid on the planet known as Brentaal IV. Sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, after Farrus's meeting with fellow archaeologist Chelli Lona Aphra and the smuggler Sana Starros on Coruscant, they journeyed back to Brentaal IV. There, they continued their search for the next individual within a black market network to kill. As Farrus continued their investigation, the droid notified them that the Archivist had sent a transmission; when Farrus accepted it, the droid projected a hologram of the Archivist.
Later, the droid informed Farrus about a new listing for an Ascendant diadem by Beol De'Rruyet, but this listing was actually a fabrication by Aphra, intended to draw Farrus in and prevent them from assassinating members of the black market network.
The initial appearance of Kho Phon Farrus' droid occurred in the seventeenth issue of the Star Wars: Doctor Aphra comic series from 2020. Alyssa Wong wrote the issue, Minkyu Jung provided the illustrations, and Marvel Comics released it on January 5, 2022.
