The Titan Magazines publication, Star Wars Rebels Magazine, featured a comic strip titled "Learning Patience" in its second issue. Martin Fisher penned the story, Ingo Römling provided the illustrations, and Gunther Nickel served as the editor. Initially, this comic was released in the UK on February 25, 2015. Subsequently, it was made available in the US on December 15, 2015. Later, it appeared in Australia within the June 2016 edition of K-Zone Volume 17, Number 6 magazine.
The events unfold in 5 BBY during a year. Aboard the Ghost, Ezra Bridger is undergoing Jedi training with Kanan Jarrus. Bridger struggles to stack cups on the _Ghost'_s Dejarik Hologame table. Jarrus advises him to focus and clear his thoughts, a challenging task for Bridger. Becoming annoyed by his inability to complete the task, Bridger questions his potential as a Jedi. Jarrus responds by explaining that patience is a critical skill for a Jedi, as lives may depend on it in the future.
The following day, an Imperial transport engages the Ghost. Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, Chopper, and Bridger attempt to evade the Empire within an Ion Storm. The Spectres narrowly escape, but the storm causes both ships to lose power. The Ghost sustains damage to several systems, prompting the crew to begin immediate repairs. Wren and Chopper are occupied, so Bridger is assigned to restore the power grid. Frustration mounts as he struggles with the task. He tells Syndulla that he feels inadequate due to his failures in both repairs and Jedi training.
However, the crew quickly notices that the Imperial ship has restored power to its engines, interrupting Bridger's repairs. Syndulla tries to pilot the Ghost to safety, realizing they are running out of time. Bridger decides to use his Force abilities to repair the power console. His success allows Wren to use the targeting systems and turbolaser to destroy the Imperial transport, whose shields are still down. Syndulla pilots the Ghost out of the ion storm and into hyperspace, heading to a rendezvous point with Jarrus and Garazeb Orrelios. Jarrus and Orrelios had been on a mission aboard the Phantom to destroy an Imperial transmission center. Jarrus jokingly expresses his frustration that the rest of the crew isn't talking about their mission, and Ezra playfully tells him to be patient.
