Plot summary

Following the downfall of Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire, the One Sith are forced into hiding. A novel Galactic Federation Triumvirate is formed, comprising the Jedi Order, the Fel Empire, and the Galactic Alliance Remnant. The newly appointed Empress Marasiah Fel initiates an ambitious project aimed at connecting the Outer Rim Territories with the rest of the galaxy. During an assignment within the Carreras system, the Imperial Knight Yalta Val is ambushed and abducted by a rogue Sith, who imprisons him and assumes his identity. Observing the strange conduct of the false "Yalta Val", Governor Biala contemplates filing an official grievance with the Triumvirate leadership upon the completion of the Carreras G51 communications array. Soon after, the station commences movement under the directives of "Yalta Val."

In a parallel development, Ania Solo and her comrades are apprehended and taken prisoner by the Carreras authorities. The Sith impersonator instructs his subordinates to secure the Imperial Knight Jao Assam but to eliminate the remaining individuals. When Governor Biala voices her opposition, "Yalta Val" Force chokes her but refrains from killing her. Confined to their cells, Ania discusses the possibility of escape, but her Mon Calamari companion Sauk expresses skepticism about their prospects. Meanwhile, the IG-88 assassin droid AG-37 has been rendered inoperative by a restraining bolt. During their conversation, Sauk posits that Mala is, in fact, a mobile planet traversing the galaxy. Subsequently, the Sith apprentice consults with the captured Jao Assam, outlining his intentions to establish a new Sith order based on the Rule of Two. Unbeknownst to them, their discussion is being monitored by Governor Biala, who promptly realizes that "Yalta Val" is an imposter.

Concurrently, Val's Imperial comm droid reactivates and manages to slip off the space station, eluding the notice of the guards. Outside, the Carreras communication arrays are directed towards the orbit of Mala. Returning to the station, Governor Biala liberates Jao, Ania, and the rest of the group, tasking them with "eliminating" the Sith impostor. Disregarding the counsel of her allies, Ania confronts the Sith impersonator, destroying his shuttle. However, the Sith apprentice survives the blast and attacks Ania's companions. After subduing Sauk and AG-37, he engages in a duel with Jao Assam. Jao manages to blind the Sith impostor, but the Sith retaliates by using the Force to impale him with two metal rods. Jao is propelled into space, while the Sith apprentice flees in another starship.
