Legacy 3, the third installment of the Star Wars: Legacy Volume 2 comic book series, continues the saga.
After being relentlessly pursued, blockaded, and fired upon, Ania Solo and her allies find themselves stranded on a volcanic world due to the machinations of an Imperial Knight who wants them eliminated. Just when their situation seems dire, another Imperial Knight appears! Will this new arrival aid them, or will they contribute to their destruction?
Following the fall of Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire, the One Sith are forced into hiding. A novel governing body, the Galactic Federation Triumvirate, is formed, comprising the Jedi Order, the Fel Empire, and the Galactic Alliance Remnant. The new Empress, Marasiah Fel, initiates an ambitious project aimed at connecting the Outer Rim Territories to the larger galaxy. During a mission within the Carreras system, the Imperial Knight named Yalta Val is ambushed and abducted by a rogue Sith, who then takes Val prisoner and assumes his identity. When Master Val fails to make contact, the Imperial Knight Jao Assam pilots his starfighter to the Carreras system. Upon his arrival, he is confronted by a Shifala naval blockade.
Simultaneously, Ania Solo and her companions, aboard the freighter belonging to the assassin droid AG-37, are chased by numerous Carreras starfighters. They successfully evade their pursuers within the icy rings surrounding Carreras Minor. Meanwhile, Jao Assam barely avoids capture by Carreras authorities and escapes into space. Utilizing the coordinates from Val's commmuications droid's, Jao pinpoints Val's supposed location on Carreras Minor. As Sauk completes repairs on the comm droid, AG-37's freighter comes under attack by a colossal tentacled creature. Jao intervenes, assisting Ania and AG-37 in repelling the monster. Despite his life-saving actions, Ania remains wary of their Imperial Knight rescuer due to her negative encounter with the Sith imposter posing as Master Val. After Jao assures them he poses no threat, Sauk and the newly functional communications droid join them. While reviewing a holo-recording of Yalta Val battling the Sith master, the group realizes that the real Val has been abducted by a Sith imposter. They decide to locate the authentic Yalta Val, using the comm droid's coordinates as their guide.
On the inner edge of the Surd Nebula, the Sith imposter oversees the activation phases of the Carreras G51 communications array. Following setbacks in the ignition sequence, the false "Yalta Val" uses the Force-choke technique on a Shifala engineer, deeply upsetting Governor Biala and her staff. Concurrently, AG-37's freighter, pursued by Carreras starfighters, flees into the Surd Nebula. Based on the comm droid's coordinates, Yalta Val is believed to be located on a floating world within the Nebula's center. However, upon reaching their destination, they discover that the planet has mysteriously disappeared. Shortly thereafter, they are ensnared by the tractor beam projector of a Shifala warship.
