LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures Season One

LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures Season One marks the inaugural season of the animated TV show LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures. Thirteen episodes, each approximately 22 minutes in length, make up this season. These episodes were broadcast on Disney XD from June 20 to August 29 of 2016.

Production

Bill Motz and Bob Roth originated the first season of The Freemaker Adventures. They envisioned the story as a series of adventures experienced by a family of scavengers. These events are set in the timeline between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The series incorporated characters and story elements from both the Original and Prequel trilogies of the Star Wars saga. The LEGO Group, Lucasfilm, and Wil Film collaborated to produce the season.

Michael Hegner, Jens Møller, Martin Skov, Frederik Budolph-Larsen, and Per Risager took on directing duties for the first season. Meanwhile, Doug Chiang, an illustrator and art director, and Erik Varszegi, LEGO's Lead Model Designer, collaborated on the design of the show's objects and environments. Matthew Wood, a seasoned Lucasfilm sound editor, contributed as the show's sound designer and provided the voice for the B1-series battle droid character R0-GR ("Roger"). Michael Kramer composed the musical score for the first season, drawing inspiration from the work of John Williams.

Release

The Walt Disney Company handled the distribution of the initial season of The Freemaker Adventures through its digital cable and satellite channel, Disney XD. StarWars.com also shared three promotional trailers during the first half of 2016 to build anticipation for the series. The release began with "A Hero Discovered," and the first four episodes were made available on Disney XD, along with various other platforms like Video on Demand and the Disney XD app on computers, phones, and other devices, between June 20 and June 23, 2016.

Following the debut of the fifth episode, "Peril on Kashyyyk" on June 27, the series went on a two-week break. It then resumed with the release of "Crossing Paths" on July 11, 2016. The series continued its run until the premiere of its thirteenth episode, "Return of the Kyber Saber" on August 29. On December 6, the first season was made available as a two-disc Blu-ray and DVD set, titled LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures – Complete Season One. This comprehensive collection also featured bonus content such as promotional clips, the one-minute Freemaker Salvage and Repair video, behind-the-scenes footage, and interviews with members of the cast.
