Plot summary

Exposition

TIEs pursuing Luke and Leia's Y-wing

The episode commences with Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa piloting a Y-wing starfighter while being chased by numerous TIE fighters. The deflector shield at the Y-wing's rear takes a hit, and their two A-wing starfighter escorts are destroyed as well. To evade the TIE fighters, Luke steers the Y-wing through the terrain of a pinnacle planet. A TIE fighter crashes into a pinnacle, yet the pilot survives, landing on the Y-wing's canopy. When he attempts to compel Luke to surrender, the Jedi pilot employs the windscreen wiper to dislodge him.

As they continue their flight through a canyon, Leia successfully shoots down a TIE fighter. Following a quick reminder from the spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi to utilize the Force, Luke blasts a cliff-face, obliterating the remaining two fighters. Despite having shaken off the TIE fighters, the Y-wing starts to overheat. Subsequently, Luke and Leia journey to the Wheel to seek repairs at Freemaker Salvage and Repair.

Dealing with customers

Zander, Leia, and Kordi

In the meantime, Wick Cooper makes a visit to Freemaker Salvage and Repair, which he belittles as the worst repair shop in the galaxy. When Kordi Freemaker inquires as to why he continues to patronize them, Cooper responds that their prices are ten percent lower than those of other repair shops. He also derives pleasure from asserting his dominance over Zander Freemaker by forbidding him from touching the speeder bike. Simultaneously, Naare embarks on a clandestine mission that excludes Rowan Freemaker. When Rowan questions when he will receive his lightsaber, Naare replies, "when he is ready." Before departing, Cooper cautions Zander against approaching his speeder bike.

Before her departure, Naare expresses to Rowan her expectation that he will be more dedicated to his training. While flying into space, she barely avoids colliding with Luke and Leia's Y-wing. Naare departs on the Eclipse Fighter just as Luke and Leia arrive at the Freemaker Garage in their Y-wing. The Freemakers narrowly avoid knocking over Cooper's speeder bike because of Zander's intervention. Luke and Leia inquire of Zander whether he can repair their ship just as it starts to fall apart. Kordi adds that the repairs will be costly and assigns Zander to the task. Zander then asks Rowan to determine if they still possess an ion stabilizer on board the StarScavenger. Knowing how heavy those stabilizers can be, Luke accompanies Rowan aboard the StarScavenger.

Aboard the StarScavenger, Roger, the B1-series battle droid, is enjoying a cup of hot oil. Upon spotting Rowan and Luke, he resumes his dusting duties. Rowan tells him to relax since they are only searching for an ion stabilizer. When Rowan asks Luke how his ship sustained damage, Luke claims they were caught in a gravity well, but Rowan discerns that he is being untruthful. Before Luke can attempt to fabricate a story, they receive a hologram message from Estoc, an Imperial officer, who announces that the Empire is pursuing the rebel leaders Luke and Leia. Roger recognizes Luke's face but cannot quite place it.

Upon hearing Estoc's hologram message, Kordi attempts to expel Leia from the Freemaker Garage because they wish to avoid trouble. However, Leia manages to persuade Kordi and Zander not to surrender them by offering to pay five times the cost of the repairs. Leia declares that she is their only hope. The Freemakers conceal Leia just before Estoc and a contingent of stormtroopers enter their Garage. The Freemakers assert that they have not seen the rebels but permit them to search the premises.

Separate adventures

Luke, Roger, and Rowan on Felucia

Meanwhile, Roger examines his hologram memories and realizes that Luke is related to Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi Knight. In a moment of panic, he spills his hot mug over the cockpit controls. Simultaneously, in the Scavenger's cargo bay, Luke instructs Rowan not to reveal his secret. Roger, while attempting to adjust the controls, inadvertently locks them inside. While managing the controls, he accidentally releases the crane holding the StarScavenger, causing it to plummet from the hangar into space. The Scavenger barely avoids crushing the stormtroopers. When Estoc asks Kordi and Zander about the ship's destination, Kordi claims to have no knowledge.

Roger manages to extinguish the fire using a foam extinguisher but accidentally sends the StarScavenger into hyperspace. Back at the Garage, Kordi asserts that the Scavenger is embarking on a salvage mission. She then enlists Zander's assistance in pushing out a trash box containing Leia. However, Estoc and her men follow them, and Estoc points out that they have overlooked the trash incinerator. Kordi denies hiding rebels in their garbage box and dumps its contents, including Leia, into the incinerator. Satisfied, Estoc and her stormtroopers depart. Kordi and Zander then descend into the incinerator via a lift and narrowly rescue Leia from being incinerated; prompting Leia to remark about her previous escape from a garbage chute aboard the Death Star. However, they are spotted by stormtroopers.

In the meantime, Luke employs the Force to open the doors. Once in the bridge, he assumes control from Roger and utilizes the Force to manipulate the hyperdrive lever. The StarScavenger crash-lands on the surface of the planet Felucia. Unable to avert a crash, Luke employs his lightsaber to cut an opening through the ship's roof. They manage to land on several leaves. Luke's skillful landings and the revelation that he is a Jedi are enough to fill Rowan with excitement and questions. Roger, however, is displeased that Luke did not save him because he was a droid. Shortly thereafter, he is consumed and ejected by a giant fly trap; with Roger lamenting that Jedi and carnivorous plants are both on his hate list.

Back on the Wheel, Leia, Kordi, and Zander are fleeing from the stormtroopers. Zander instructs Leia and Kordi to continue running, promising to catch up. He then leaps onto a probe droid and uses it to launch canisters at the stormtroopers, incapacitating them. Meanwhile, the girls escape into a lift. Unable to return to the Middle Ring, they travel to the Upper Ring with the assistance of Leia's House of Alderaan card. Leia confirms to Kordi that she is a prominent member of the Rebel Alliance. Kordi attempts to relate to Leia by recounting an instance where she gave a man half of a sandwich she did not want.

Times of testing

Darth Vader and Darth Sidious give Naare a performance review

Upon arriving at the Upper Ring, Kordi helps herself to a tray of appetizers being served by a silver protocol droid. Leia then notices a squad of stormtroopers with Furlac in the background. She then guides Kordi into the entrance of a luxurious penthouse owned by Mr. Cooper. While Kordi uses a potted plant to disguise herself, Cooper engages in conversation with Leia, expressing his pleasure at meeting a human worker for a change as opposed to a droid. The two present themselves as cleaning crew.

Meanwhile, Naare lands the Eclipse Fighter at the Imperial Palace on Coruscant, where she meets with Palpatine, the Emperor, and Darth Vader. In Palpatine's office, he conducts a performance review of Naare's efforts to locate the Kyber Saber crystals in the form of a pop quiz. After a series of questions, he assigns her a score of zero.

On Felucia, Luke employs the Force to move a bulkhead and informs Rowan that size is irrelevant. He then uses the Force to repair the StarScavenger. Rowan also observes a unique type of flower blooming whenever the Force comes within range of the buds. Luke admits to never having witnessed that before. Shortly thereafter, they encounter Roger, who is ejected by an acklay. Rowan jokes that the positive aspect is that everyone on this planet finds Roger's taste unpleasant; implying that he will not be eaten. Roger then relays the negative news that the acklay has absconded with their hyperdrive motivator. Without the motivator, they will be stranded.

Back at the Wheel, Cooper conducts a spot check on Leia and Kordi after they scrub his floors. Kordi expresses her frustration with Cooper's arrogance, but Leia advises her to restrain herself. However, Cooper then tells a joke about how many Alderaanians it takes to change a light bulb, which infuriates Leia as it reminds her of the destruction of Alderaan. Enraged, Leia throws him against the automated doors, shattering them upon impact. Shortly thereafter, two cleaning droids arrive, and Kordi and Leia seize the opportunity to escape. Cooper alerts the stormtroopers, who pursue them. Kordi helps herself to another tray of dainties before fleeing down the lift with Leia. When Kordi questions Leia about restraint, Leia responds that she could have ejected him out of the airlock.

Meanwhile, night has descended on Felucia. The rebels attempt to recover the hyperdrive motivator from a deep pit where the acklay resides. However, their presence startles the acklay, and Rowan falls into the pit. He manages to evade the creature's claws. With Roger panicking, Luke employs the Force to levitate several rocks and hurls them at the acklay. He then uses the Force to levitate Rowan out of the cave. They then flee from the acklay.

Solving problems

Kordi, Zander, and Leia had to evade Estoc and her stormtroopers

Back at the Wheel, Kordi and Leia take refuge in a diner after being pursued by stormtroopers from both directions. Estoc and her stormtroopers search the diner for the rebels. The stormtroopers discover Kordi hiding inside an empty pot and bring her to Estoc. Unable to locate Leia, the stormtroopers are about to send Kordi to a dreary prison planet when Leia emerges from hiding within the hair of an alien customer. She employs plates to incapacitate the stormtroopers and kicks Estoc out of the diner. Estoc is swept away by a garbage truck. Shortly thereafter, Zander arrives on Cooper's speeder bike. Two stormtroopers attempt to apprehend him but end up shooting each other. The Freemakers and Leia then escape on the speeder bike; which Kordi asserts Cooper owes them for cleaning his floors.

On Felucia, Roger reminds them that they must leave the planet before he is swallowed and ejected by a giant fly trap again. Rowan asks Luke if they could employ a Jedi mind trick to persuade the monster to relinquish the hyperdrive motivator. Luke clarifies that the Force does not operate in that manner and that it aligns with the natural order. Inspired by Luke's words, Rowan convinces Luke to use the Force to lure the acklay from the pit. This enables Roger to retrieve the hyperdrive motivator. The battle droid is soon swallowed for the third time by a fly trap, further testing his patience.

Back at the Wheel, the Freemakers and Leia travel on Cooper's speeder bike. When Kordi asks Leia why she saved them, Leia responds that the galaxy will not improve unless individuals are willing to make sacrifices for one another. This sparks an idea in Kordi's mind: she sends out Luke and Leia's Y-wing as a decoy. As anticipated, the Y-wing is destroyed by two TIE fighters. Kordi and Zander observe as Estoc and her stormtroopers enter the Freemaker Garage. The two siblings attempt to convince her that Leia compelled them to assist her at gunpoint. Estoc is unconvinced but leaves them alone, believing that Luke and Leia's deaths represent a significant victory for the Empire and her own career. Estoc takes the stormtroopers out to celebrate.

Leia then emerges from hiding, and Kordi expresses her gratitude for teaching her the value of sacrifice. Roger, Rowan, and Luke then return with the StarScavenger. Luke exits the ship while regaling Rowan and Roger with stories about his collaborations with Wedge Antilles. When Rowan asks if he missed anything, Kordi informs her younger brother that she aided a hero of the rebellion in evading capture so that she could continue her fight to restore freedom to the galaxy. Zander adds that he rode Wick Cooper's bike. Leia then reminds them that she and Luke must depart. Lacking a suitable ship, they take one of Zander's Z-wings to leave. When Leia offers to pay five times the price, Kordi sells them the ship at a discounted rate because she believes that the rebels are a force for good. Luke and Leia depart on friendly terms with the Freemakers.

A revelation

Sometime later, Naare returns, frustrated with her quiz. Rowan then presents her with a flower that immediately wilts. When Naare attempts to dismiss it as inconsequential and offers to provide him with more training, the boy becomes suspicious about his mentor's true identity.
