Lisst'n

The Lisst'n were a sentient species known for their continuous skin shedding. They existed within the galaxy as far back as the era of Xim the Despot, around 25,000 BBY. Legend has it that Lyechusas, Xim's court poet and the most celebrated Lisst'n dramatist, wrote three trilogies about the Despot's life during that period. In the early years of the Galactic Empire, the University of Rudrig, which was the only university in the Tion Hegemony, offered several high-end dermal autostripper services specifically for Lisst'n individuals.

Biology and appearance

The Lisst'n were a sentient species characterized by their constant shedding of skin. To manage this molting process, they utilized dermal autostrippers during the Galactic Empire era.

History

The Lisst'n were part of the galactic community as early as 25,200 BBY, during the reign of Xim the Despot over an interstellar empire. Legend states that Xim commissioned Lyechusas, his court poet and the most famous Lisst'n dramatist, to create three trilogies chronicling his life. However, by the time of the New Republic, doubts arose regarding the legend's authenticity after Professor Ransen, a scholar of Ximology, suggested that the original literature about Xim might have originated as Hutt propaganda. Other historians, such as S. V. Skynx, challenged Ransen's theory. Although Lyechusas' original manuscripts were lost, fragments of her works survived for over 25,000 years in Oor translations. The Royal Theatre of Argai, Lyechusas' home, claimed to possess an authentic piece of her shed skin. The Argai Players performed her trilogies annually to sold-out audiences. One of Lyechusas' scripts was titled The Pirate Prince.

During the later years of the Galactic Empire, the University of Rudrig, the only university within the Tion Hegemony, provided several luxurious dermal autostripper services for Lisst'n individuals, as well as members of the Pui-ui species.

Behind the scenes

Brian Daley created the Lisst'n for his novel Han Solo and the Lost Legacy, which was published by Del Rey in 1980. This brief mention offered limited information about the species. They later received an entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, which was published in 2008. In 2009, Michael Kogge first named the Lisst'n in his Hyperspace-exclusive article Xim Week: The Despotica.
