Manpha, a planet characterized by its wet and swampy terrain, was situated within both the Outer Rim Territories and the [Western Reaches]. Its location, specifically grid square K-20 on the Standard Galactic Grid, placed it along the super-hyperroute known as the Corellian Trade Spine, a route connecting it to the planets Tureen VII and Zastiga. Notably, Manpha served as the homeworld for the amphibious Shawda Ubb species, which included the musician named Rappertunie.
The initial mention of Manpha within the current Star Wars canon occurred in the reference book Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded (2016), authored by Simon Beecroft and Pablo Hidalgo. An error appeared in the 2017 French-language publication Créatures et peuples de la galaxie by Sabine Boccador, where the planet's name was incorrectly spelled "Monpha."
Originally, Manpha was established within the Star Wars Legends continuity, with its debut mention in the 1997 Star Wars Trilogy Sourcebook, Special Edition, a publication by West End Games intended for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The planet received its first visual representation in the 2006 reference work The New Essential Guide to Alien Species, authored by Ann Margaret Lewis and Helen Keier, with illustrations provided by Chris Trevas and William O'Connor.
