Mark Hieks

Mark Hieks, a male Human native to Talus, existed during the era of the Galactic Civil War. Initially, he operated as both a spy and mercenary for the Nightstrike Soldier Hegemony. Later in his life, he became a member of the Corellian Security Force.

Biography

Early in the Galactic Civil War, a conflict pitting the Galactic Empire against the Rebel Alliance, Mark Hieks was affiliated with the Nightstrike Soldier Hegemony, a mercenary group that sided with the Empire.

Following the Battle of Yavin, Hieks received orders from his commanding officer, Galiir Ac Yandar, to infiltrate the headquarters of the Aggregate Civil Liberties Organization. This Talusian organization opposed the Empire and was disrupting the N.S.H.'s activities.

In 1 ABY, Hieks successfully gained entry into the organization. His mission involved planting electronic surveillance devices on four crucial computer systems. To avoid raising suspicion, Mark deliberately injured himself, preventing him from completing the task alone. Fortunately, Galiir dispatched a spacer working for Colonel Braedic Ekirk to provide assistance. The spacer met Hieks in the A.C.L.O.'s medical bay, where he was instructed to install the monitoring devices on the A.C.L.O.'s medical computer, personal computer, operations computer, and equipment manifest computer. The spacer meticulously carried out the assignment and reported back to Mark. Although pleased, Mark had one final task for the spacer. Rebel inspectors were scheduled to arrive and examine the A.C.L.O.'s local office. The Rebellion sought to determine whether to establish a more formal alliance with the A.C.L.O. To sabotage the inspection and hinder the A.C.L.O.'s progress with the Rebellion, Mark instructed the spacer to eliminate at least ten Rebel inspectors. The spacer once again succeeded. Mark, impressed by the spacer's skills and loyalty to the Empire, advised him to remain hidden. After completing the tasks, the spacer returned to Braedic Ekirk, while Mark remained within the A.C.L.O. office for an extended period.

At some point later, Hieks became an agent working for the Corellian Security Force. The Aqualish bounty hunter Ponda Baba established a group of Aqualish criminals called the Followers of Baba and initiated raids on several towns on Talus. However, CorSec opted not to intervene directly to avoid escalating the situation. Instead, Hieks contracted a spacer to apprehend Baba. The spacer successfully captured Baba and handed him over to CorSec.
