Mij Gilamar was a doctor of Human male descent and a Mandalorian warrior. During the Clone Wars, he lent his services to the Cuy'val Dar.

Sometime prior to 32 BBY, Mij Gilamar, a Human male doctor, encountered and fell in love with a Mandalorian girl named Tani. Following their marriage, Gilamar integrated himself into Mandalorian culture. Tragedy struck when his wife was murdered; Gilamar then swore vengeance to kill her murderer. He painted his armor in the sand-gold color traditionally used by Mandalorians to signify a mission of vengeance.
Gilamar was among the seventy-five Mandalorian warriors handpicked by bounty hunter Jango Fett to assist in the training of elite clone commandos on the planet Kamino. This group of individuals formed part of the Cuy'val Dar, a hundred-member force whose name translates to "Those Who No Longer Exist". Gilamar held a strong dislike for his fellow training sergeants Dred Priest and Isabet Reau, viewing them as being on par with the Death Watch due to their extreme views on Mandalorian superiority. He also loathed Priest for running an underground fight club that resulted in numerous clone injuries. During his time stationed on Kamino, he struck up a friendship with ARC trooper Alpha-Ø2, also known as Spar. Spar would feign severe headaches, backaches, and auditory hallucinations to spend time in the medical bay where Gilamar worked. Later on, Gilamar facilitated Spar's defection from the Grand Army of the Republic and helped him escape from Kamino by calling in a favor with Fett, who smuggled him out in the cargo hold of the Slave I.
Gilamar also served as an instructor for the clone troopers, teaching them essential skills in field medicine, including first aid and triage procedures.
During the period of the Clone Wars, he collaborated with his former Cuy'val Dar colleague Kal Skirata in an advisory capacity for the Grand Army of the Republic. While working in this role, he "liberated" medical and scientific equipment for use at Skirata's secret base on Mandalore: Kyrimorut, which was becoming a safe haven for clones seeking to desert the Grand Army. Additionally, he aided Skirata in the search for scientists who could potentially find a cure for the clone troopers' accelerated aging. During this search, Gilamar met Dr. Reye Nenilin, whom he subtly insulted by drawing a comparison to the ancient Mandalorian scientist Demagol. He assisted in the rescue of the wounded clone commando Fi on Mandalore, working alongside ex-Jedi Bardan Jusik. When Order 66 was issued to all members of the Grand Army, Gilamar deserted to Mandalore alongside the rest of Clan Skirata, before going on to rescue [Arla Fett](/article/arla_fett], and then Separatist scientist Dr. Ovolot Qail Uthan who had recently been kidnapped.

As Gilamar spent time working alongside Doctor Uthan in her efforts to develop a solution to halt the clones' accelerated aging, he began to develop romantic feelings for her. He also formed a strong bond with Jedi Padawan Tallisibeth Enwandung-Esterhazy—nicknamed Scout—who was seeking refuge from the Galactic Empire at Kyrimorut's secluded location. He taught her first aid and developed a fatherly affection for her. After the Emperor's attack on Uthan's homeworld, Gibad, which involved the use of the FG36 nanovirus she had originally developed for the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Gilamar provided comfort to her in the wake of her world's destruction. Together, they collaborated to create a countermeasure to the nanovirus. Once the anti-virus was completed, Gilamar expressed his feelings for Uthan, and they shared a kiss. When Scout expressed her desire to remain on Mandalore with Gilamar and Uthan—who had taken on a somewhat motherly role toward her—instead of being sent to live with the Altisian Jedi, Gilamar agreed to speak with Skirata on Scout's behalf, assuring her that she could stay despite her wish to continue being a Jedi.
When the time came to distribute the anti-virus among the broader Mandalorian population, Gilamar joined several members of the Skirata clan in the capital, Keldabe. While there, he noticed his former Cuy'val Dar associates Reau and Priest—whom he had previously seen working with the Imperial occupation force—in a crowd. Spotting the Death Watch symbol on their armor, he lured Priest into a conversation that quickly moved to a secluded alley. There, he discovered that the Death Watch was still operating under the leadership of Lorka Gedyc and were planning to revive the splinter group. Unwilling to allow the Death Watch's brutality to return, Gilamar attacked Priest, slashing his femoral artery through the gap in his armor and leaving him to bleed to death. With the assistance of Ordo Skirata, he disposed of the body in the Kelita River to delay Reau from discovering it.

Mij Gilamar was originally created as part of an exclusive Entertainment Earth 14 action figure set. The figure is assembled using a combination of new parts and existing pieces from Jango Fett figures. It features new legs, which are shared with B'arin Apma, along with a completely new head and various pieces previously used in the creation of different Jango Fett action figures.
Initially, this figure was intended to represent the Mandalorian training sergeant Kal Skirata. However, Karen Traviss felt that the head mold appeared too youthful, so she requested that Hasbro change the name. She named the figure after her close friend James Gilmer, with Mij being Jim spelled backward.
