Mizel Pomdak

A youthful human male known as Mizel Pomdak was affiliated with the rebellion, a decentralized group of freedom fighters who stood against the Galactic Empire. He started out as an unassured and awkward mechanic, but his encounter with Ezra Bridger changed everything. Bridger, a young rebel and Jedi apprentice, inspired Pomdak to join the rebellion, and Pomdak began to have faith in his own abilities. During a battle with Imperials, he demonstrated his worth by repairing a critical defense system on Phoenix Home, the rebel fleet's flagship.

Biography

Early life

Sheev Palpatine's abolishment of the democratic Galactic Republic and its replacement with the Galactic Empire marked the year of Mizel Pomdak's birth. Although his parents were Empire supporters, his father would regale him with stories of the Jedi, the Force-wielding order that Palpatine sought to destroy. After hearing the same story two days in a row, Pomdak realized that the official HoloNet News was not telling the truth. He also saw a holo-transmission of the Spectres, a rebel crew from Lothal, and was particularly drawn to Ezra Bridger, a boy his age who carried a Jedi lightsaber.

Age of the Empire

Sato's trainee mechanic

Inspired by Bridger, Pomdak eventually snuck onto a freighter and found the rebellion, a network of resistance cells. He joined the crew of Commander Jun Sato's Phoenix Cell. Under Sato's guidance, Pomdak began learning the operation and maintenance of the rebellion's starships. Despite studying technical manuals all night, Pomdak made mistakes during repairs. His habit of oversleeping also frustrated Sato, nearly leading to his dismissal.

Finding confidence

Pomdak eventually met Ezra Bridger on Phoenix Home, a CR90 corvette serving as Phoenix cell's base. Sato tasked Pomdak with assisting Bridger in learning ship maintenance. Bridger encouraged Pomdak to believe in himself after hearing about his struggles. Later, an A-wing pilot emerged from hyperspace near Phoenix Base, reporting an Imperial attack near Rinn. This caused a stir, and Sato ordered the fleet to jump to hyperspace, fearing the Imperials had tracked the A-wing. However, an Imperial flotilla appeared and attacked before they could escape.

Sato ordered Bridger to man Phoenix Home's firing station, but a turbolaser battery was hit. Sato sent Pomdak to repair it. Pomdak feared making a mistake that could doom the rebels. Sato, unusually supportive, encouraged Pomdak, saying the fleet's fate depended on him. While working on the battery, Pomdak noticed that Ezra Bridger had made some wiring errors earlier. Realizing that even heroes make mistakes, Pomdak gained confidence and fixed the wires correctly.

As the batteries of Phoenix Home were being repaired, the Ghost, piloted by Captain Hera Syndulla of the Spectres, emerged from hyperspace and attacked the Imperials, allowing the rebel fleet to escape. After reaching safety, Pomdak met Captain Syndulla and Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger's Jedi mentor. With newfound confidence, Pomdak received praise from Sato and thanked Bridger for his guidance.
