Currency

Numerous types of payment existed, including Imperial credits, coaxium, and Mandalorian money. Money, also known as currency or dosh, served as the primary method for conducting transactions within a given region, and its release into the economy was managed by the relevant regional authority responsible for financial matters. Within the galaxy, two dominant forms of currency prevailed. The first was the Republic credit, which subsequently evolved into the Imperial credit before being superseded by the New Republic credit. The second was the wupiupi, which was almost exclusively used in the Outer Rim Territories.

Additionally, several lesser-used currencies existed throughout the galaxy, for example the druggat, the Calamari Flan, Zukkels, and the Batuuan Spira.

Certain valuable items in specific sectors of space functioned as a substitute for formal currency. A prime example is the nova crystal, a rare material that was frequently exchanged, effectively acting as a currency due to its high inherent worth.
