The northern territory existed on the planet called Ipsidon. This region served as the habitat for herds of Ipsidon bucks, and its landscape consisted of rugged mountains and arid deserts. These features concealed hidden caverns alongside subterranean lakes. During the Galactic Republic's reign, a spaceport was established there, becoming a bustling center for the ipsium mining industry. Ipsium, a valuable but unstable mineral, drove this industry. However, the spaceport was eventually abandoned. Within this area, individual ipsium mines were also present, with one being acquired by information broker Ciddarin Scaleback. Around 18 BBY, Clone Force 99's clone commando mercenaries were dispatched to Ipsidon with the intention of obtaining ipsium. Their mission was unsuccessful, and they briefly lost their shuttle, the Marauder, to Benni Baro, a young thief from the refinery town of Mokkotown, which was situated outside the northern territory. They later recovered it and departed Ipsidon.
The northern territory made its debut in "The Crossing," the ninth episode of the Star Wars: The Bad Batch television series' second season. This episode was broadcast on February 15, 2023. Further details were revealed in "Retrieval," the subsequent tenth episode, which aired on February 22 of the same year.
