The Order of the Terrible Glare represented a sinister religious group, although their spiritual convictions were not as strong as those of the B'omarr Order. Within the Metharian Nebula, the Order compensated corsairs to seize pilgrims and transport them to the Order's location.
The initial mention of the Order of the Terrible Glare within the current Star Wars canon occurred in Servants of the Empire: The Secret Academy, a 2015 young adult novel authored by Jason Fry. The Order of the Terrible Glare first appeared within the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they existed as a relatively unknown entity with limited appearances. In Legends, the Order debuted in "Blind Fury!," a 1982 comic narrative featured in Star Wars Monthly 159, penned by Alan Moore and visually brought to life by John Stokes.
The character Rur was reimagined as a component of the Ordu Aspectu in the second issue of the Marvel comic book title Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, crafted by Kieron Gillen and illustrated by Kev Walker. As of now, no link has been confirmed between the Order of the Terrible Glare and the Ordu Aspectu.
