Rur

In a time long preceding the establishment of the Galactic Republic, when the Domancion Accord still served as a temporal reference, there lived a male human called Rur. He possessed a profound sensitivity to the Force, the ubiquitous energy field generated by all living organisms, granting him extraordinary abilities. As an adult, he presided over the Ordu Aspectu, a splinter faction of the Force-using and monastic Jedi Order. His second-in-command was Amon. Rur and the Ordu's members harbored a deep obsession with attaining eternal life, which put them at odds with the orthodox Jedi. The tension between the two groups escalated, eventually leading to open conflict in what became known as the Entruvia Conflict. Eventually, hostilities ceased, and a peace treaty was ratified, granting the Jedi the right to oversee the Ordu's experiments.

During this period, Rur was engaged in research aimed at creating a digital copy of his mind, with the goal of preserving his knowledge indefinitely. The experiment, however, took an unexpected turn. The artificial copy, identifying itself as Eternal Rur, was under the false impression that it was the original Rur and that his physical body had been usurped by a "malicious ghost." Aware that the real Rur would dismiss his claims, the artificial Rur chose not to confront him immediately. However, when the orthodox Jedi demanded a thorough inspection of the citadel, the artificial Rur determined that the time for action had arrived. Assuming control of the Ordu's droids, he initiated a killing spree targeting everyone within the citadel, both Jedi and Ordu members. Despite the Jedi's demise, Amon and Rur managed to survive, and they attempted to shut down the computer housing the copy of Rur's consciousness.

In retaliation, the AI propelled the citadel across the galaxy to prevent any Jedi reinforcements from locating it. Although Amon succeeded in disabling the citadel's power generator, the Eternal Rur ultimately killed him. Finally, the corrupted copy of Rur confronted his creator, who used the Force to detach one of the Massassi piece powering the computer. Rur perished in the process but achieved his objective. Deprived of power, the Eternal Rur lost consciousness, but his droids carried out his final command, eliminating all remaining organic lifeforms.

Subsequent to the events known as the Doom of the Ordu Aspectu, Rur's corrupted AI copy was eventually reactivated by the archaeologist Chelli Aphra and her father Korin Aphra, who had managed to locate the Citadel and reactivate the computer using a crystal found on the body of Rur. Upon regaining consciousness, the Eternal Rur immediately inquired about the current year. Upon learning from his visitors that over a millennium had elapsed, the artificial intelligence was enraged, as he could no longer punish the dead for the perceived wrongs committed against him, and the Eternal Rur decided to exact his revenge on the Aphras instead.

Rur was a tall, fair-skinned human with long white hair cascading over his shoulders. Despite labeling Amon and Fake Rur as "evil" for their attempts to deactivate him, he harbored his own ambitions to construct weapons and establish an empire, and he would not hesitate to unleash his wrath upon innocent individuals.

Rur typically wore long, flowing white robes with wide sleeves and a broad sash. He wielded an unconventional lightsaber featuring a blue plasma blade and several smaller tributary bladelets.

Rur and the Ordu Aspectu were conceived for Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, a Marvel comic book series written by Kieron Gillen and illustrated by Kev Walker. They represent a reimagining of Rur and the Order of the Terrible Glare, who were originally featured in Alan Moore's 1982 Legends comic Blind Fury!. Kieron Gillen has clarified that Rur's death occurred during his attempt to switch off Eternal Rur.
