Oz was a clone trooper serving within the ranks of the 501st Legion of the Grand Army of the Republic. During the events of the Battle of Umbara, which took place in 20 BBY, Oz, along with his fellow soldier, Ringo, tragically died as a result of mines set by the Umbaran forces, while they were under the command of Jedi General Pong Krell.
On the planet of Kamino, Oz was grown to become a clone trooper who fought for the Grand Army of the Republic during the period known as the Clone Wars. In the year 20 BBY, Oz was a member of a platoon within the 501st Legion that was dispatched to take control of Umbara. As the Battle of Umbara unfolded, Anakin Skywalker, the legion's Jedi General, was summoned back to Coruscant, and Jedi Master Pong Krell took his place.
Krell gave the order for Oz's platoon to spearhead a direct assault on the capital of Umbara. Despite having reservations about Krell's directives, the platoon proceeded along the jungle path leading to the city. However, the route had been mined, and an explosion resulted in the death of Oz, as well as his comrade, Ringo. Oz and Ringo's passing was confirmed by their fellow soldiers, and Clone Captain CT-7567, known as "Rex," instructed the team to clear the road of any remaining mines. Soon after, the Umbaran Militia launched an ambush on the platoon, forcing them to withdraw.
During the Battle of Umbara, Oz was equipped with Phase II clone trooper armor displaying blue markings.
Oz's initial appearance was in "Darkness on Umbara," the seventh episode of the fourth season of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Matt Michnovetz wrote the episode, which was first broadcast on October 28, 2011.
