Pacifier-class sector patrol cruiser

The Pacifier-class sector patrol cruiser, also designated as a Pacifier-class Republic ship or Pacifier-class transport ship, represented a patrol cruiser class. It was a vessel type in service to the Galactic Republic during the High Republic Era. These cruisers, property of the worlds that comprised the Republic Defense Coalition, were manned by a crew numbering one hundred individuals. During the Battle of Kur, five Pacifier-class cruisers participated as part of the combined Republic and Jedi Order forces against the Nihil. Specifically, the Marillion hailing from Alderaan, and the Yekkabird originating from Corellia, were both destroyed amidst the conflict.

Behind the scenes

The initial appearance of the Pacifier-class sector patrol cruiser occurred in 2021 within The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, a novel, and simultaneously, its audiobook adaptation. Charles Soule penned the novel, with publication handled by Del Rey. The first visual depiction of the Pacifier-class was in The High Republic: Shadows of Starlight 1, the debut issue of a comic series released in 2023. Its design bears a striking similarity to concept art created by James Clyne for the MG-100 StarFortress SF-17 heavy bomber during the production of Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi.
