Padak

title: Padak

Padak, a male Human bounty hunter, made use of a uniquely modified suit of armor. Affiliated with the Qulok's Fist bounty hunter organization, he participated in their slavery, smuggling, and mercenary ventures across the Outer Rim Territories, the Minos Cluster, and the Kathol sector. In 8 ABY, Padak played a role in the group's assignment to track the New Republic CR90 corvette known as the FarStar, under the direction of Imperial Moff Kentor Sarne, the former warlord of the Kathol sector. He was involved when they engaged the vessel in battle within the Shintel system.

Biography

Padak, a bounty hunter of the Human male persuasion, was associated with Qulok's Fist, a criminal syndicate that engaged in activities such as bounty hunting, smuggling, slavery, and mercenary pursuits. He operated alongside Kolig, the leader of the group, Sufar, a murderer, and Thanis Gul-Rah, a former Imperial soldier. Dressed in a personalized suit of yellow-gold armor, Padak functioned as the group's mobile arsenal. Blasters and grenades were slung across his body via bandoleers and holsters.

Padak's operations with Qulok's Fist extended to the Outer Rim Territories, the Minos Cluster, and the Kathol sector. During their time in the Kathol sector, they were employed by Moff Kentor Sarne, a former Imperial officer who had seceded the sector from the Empire and established himself as a warlord after the death of Emperor Palpatine in 4 ABY. During this period, Padak participated in a hunt on a remote planet that escalated into a massacre, leading Thanis Gul-Rah to leave the organization due to his disgust.

Following the liberation of the sector's capital, Kal'Shebbol, by the New Republic in 8 ABY, Sarne was compelled to flee into the Kathol sector. Qulok's Fist was then contracted by the warlord to shadow the CR90 corvette FarStar, which had been assigned by the New Republic to locate Sarne.

Sarne, in an attempt to impede the FarStar, orchestrated for the corvette to reroute to the Shintel system by providing false intelligence through one of his agents, Colonel Olaver Lansel, stationed on the planet Gandle Ott. Sarne's intention was for the FarStar to find him, as he sought to lure regional New Republic forces into a carefully planned trap, thus paving the way for his reconquest of the Kathol sector. At Shintel, the FarStar discovered a supply depot abandoned by Sarne. Lieutenant [Palme], an officer at the base who was also a covert agent of Sarne's, successfully uploaded a virus into the FarStar's systems. When the corvette attempted to depart the Shintel system, the virus caused the hyperdrive to overload, leaving the starship stranded. As planned, Qulok's Fist arrived in their transport, the Steel Fist, and launched a series of swift attacks on the disabled ship. Padak served as a crew member aboard the Steel Fist during this brief conflict.

Personality and traits

Padak craved not just a fight, but a full-scale war. His personal arsenal included a blaster rifle, a blaster pistol, a hold-out blaster, a pair of knives, four grenades, and two thermal detonators. He also carried a magna-grapple with seventy-five meters of thincord. He was skilled in the use of blasters, proficient in melee combat, and adept at throwing weapons. He could ride animals and operate the weapons systems of starships. He possessed stealth capabilities when necessary and had first aid training.

Encased in his custom armor and helmet, Padak presented an emotionless and anonymous persona to the galaxy. He was regarded as evil, violent, and exceedingly dangerous. He felt no remorse for killing and was on the verge of being uncontrollable, rendering him unpredictable. Padak's sole ambition was "to do good death." While he followed Kolig's orders, he resented the lack of frequent killing, preferring intense combat and the annihilation of his enemies. Despite being a formidable warrior, he lacked the tactical acumen of other members of Qulok's Fist, and had to be restrained during missions to prevent him from jeopardizing plans.

Behind the scenes

Padak was conceived for The DarkStryder Campaign, a supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games. Padak was featured in the "Rogues Gallery" section, authored by Peter M. Schweighofer, and was intended for Gamemasters to incorporate him—and Qulok's Fist—into original adventures. Qulok's Fist later appeared in the adventure Shintel Downtime, although their presence was limited to their ship, the Steel Fist.
