Pod 1977 served as the callsign for an escape pod situated on the Venator-class Star Destroyer Triumphant, commanded by Jedi Master Plo Koon. This particular pod met its end during the Battle of Abregado.
Early in the Clone Wars, Escape Pod 1977 was stationed aboard the Triumphant, the Venator-class Star Destroyer under the command of Jedi Master Plo Koon. While Master Plo Koon's fleet was on patrol in the Abregado system, they were ambushed by General Grievous' secret weapon, the Malevolence. This starship unleashed its powerful mega-ion cannon, disabling all of the Triumphant's defenses, leaving it susceptible to the Malevolence's turbolasers. Under heavy fire, all of the ship's escape pods were launched, including Pod 1977. Subsequently, while adrift in space, rocket battle droids from a pod hunter boarded the pod, resulting in the death of everyone inside.
The naming of this pod is a reference to the year 1977, which marked the release of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. It is featured in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode titled Rising Malevolence.
