A puffball was a species of furry animal that lived on the Outer Rim world of Dalna during the age of the High Republic Era. During 230 BBY, one of these creatures was seen in Saludad, the capital city of Dalna, close to the house of Vice President Hackrack Bep, when Jedi Knights Yacek Sparkburn and Vernestra Rwoh, along with Jedi Padawan Imri Cantaros, and the tooka cat named Gemmy, went there to talk with Bep. Upon their arrival, the puffball scurried away, going down an alley located between some buildings. Gemmy noticed the creature, jumped from Cantaros' shoulder, and gave chase. Soon after, the tooka came back to the Padawan as he waited outside Bep's residence.
A puffball made an appearance in the junior novel The High Republic: Mission to Disaster, which came out in 2022. Justina Ireland wrote it, and it was released as a component of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia initiative.
