Qhulosk, the planet that served as the Qhuloskian species's origin, existed within the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy. The Galactic Empire maintained an Imperial Navy Mobile Base on Qhulosk during the Imperial Era to aid in a battle against the native Qhuloskians. After his training concluded, Han Solo, then an Imperial cadet, was briefly stationed on Qhulosk, along with his squadron.
Qhulosk, a desert planet situated within the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy, possessed a breathable atmosphere and was orbited by two moons. The rare substance known as farium was present on the planet and was extracted through mining activities performed by the inhabitants.
The Qhuloskians, the natives of the planet, subjected the Ghular species to slavery, forcing them to labor in farium mines to obtain the material for constructing their starships.
During the reign of the Galactic Empire, the Qhuloskians mounted resistance against an Imperial takeover, which resulted in a battle within the city of Howlan. Carida Squadron, a squadron comprised of cadets from Carida Academy, was dispatched to provide assistance, and they were stationed at an Imperial Navy Mobile Base located some distance from the conflict. During the battle, a TIE fighter piloted by Beilert Valance was downed in the heart of Howlan.
Yurib Nakan, the squadron's instructor, denied authorization for a rescue operation. However, the cadets, under the leadership of Han Solo, commandeered several speeder bikes and entered the city to rescue Valance. They located him alive, but were surrounded by Qhuloskians during their attempted escape. A group of Ghulars, led by Rito, killed their Qhuloskian enslavers, hoping to escape using a nearby ship's escape pods. Upon the squadron's return to the base, Instructor Nakan sanctioned the bombardment of the city, leading to its destruction.
The planet served as the home of the Qhuloskians, a sentients species distinguished by their four [armed](/article/limb] anatomy and their use of a language distinct from Galactic Basic Standard. The Qhuloskians held another species, the Ghulars, in slavery, compelling them to work in farium mines. During the battle of Howlan, several Ghulars managed to escape their enslavement, while many Qhuloskian insurgents perished.
The city of Howlan, situated on Qhulosk, became the site of conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Qhuloskian inhabitants. During the battle, the Empire established its presence at an Imperial Navy Mobile Base, which was fortified by a deflector shield.
Qhulosk made its initial appearance in the canon comic Han Solo - Imperial Cadet 4, authored by Robbie Thompson, illustrated by Leonard Kirk, and released on February 13, 2019.
