Raid on Sullust

The assault on Sullust was an operation executed by Rogue Squadron. Kasan Moor, an Imperial defector, masterminded the plan to neutralize an Imperial facility nestled within the active volcano called the Capacitor. In the conflict, Rogue Squadron engaged TIE Interceptors, turbolasers, missile turrets, and AT-ST walkers. An intricate shield transmitter network safeguarded the installation, projecting a shield that completely enveloped the Capacitor, thereby compelling Rogue Squadron to eliminate the transmitter network initially. While the Alliance forces claimed victory, it was ultimately a deception: while they were engaged in combat there, Moff Kohl Seerdon launched an assault targeting bacta resources on Thyferra.

Background

Following Imperial Moff Kohl Seerdon's blockade of the world of Chandrila, which was aligned with the Rebel Alliance, the Rebel squadron was dispatched to Sullust to strike the Capacitor at a clandestine Imperial installation. The raid was orchestrated by Kasan Moor.

The Engagement

The Capacitor is detroyed.

A deflector shield protected the Capacitor. Rogue Squadron, while fighting against the base's defenses, succeeded in taking out the twelve shield transmitters positioned across the area that were generating the shield. Once the shield was deactivated, Rogue Squadron shifted their focus to the Capacitor's support columns. Upon their destruction, the structure fractured into two segments and plummeted into the lava.

During the operation, Rogue Squadron attacked and destroyed a bunker near a transmitter and a TIE landing pad, discovering another cache of seeker proton torpedoes.

Consequences

Despite achieving success, the raid proved to be a diversion orchestrated by Moff Seerdon to lure Rogue Squadron away while he attacked Rebel bacta reserves located on Thyferra.

Production Notes

The Raid on Sullust is featured in the 1998 video game Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. The mission's upgrade is seeker proton torpedoes.
