The Chandrila Blockade occurred during the Galactic Civil War. Following the Rebel Alliance's assault on Fest, Kohl Seerdon, a Moff, responded with an attack on Chandrila, a significant Alliance world. Ironically, it was both his and Mon Mothma's planet of origin. To safeguard the spaceport located at Nayli, the Alliance dispatched an armored hover train, escorted by Rogue Squadron. This train transported essential resources for the resistance operating within the city.
A special operations group from the Rebel forces, backed by the renowned Rogue Squadron under the command of Commander Luke Skywalker, attacked the Imperial Moff Kohl Seerdon's Weapons Research Facility situated on the arctic planet of Fest. They successfully absconded with a trio of AT-PT vehicles before their departure. This act greatly angered Seerdon. As retribution for the destruction of his research facility and the theft of the AT-PTs, Seerdon launched an invasion of Chandrila, which was not only his own homeworld, but also the birthplace of Alliance leader Mon Mothma. He then initiated a blockade of the spaceport at Nayli.

TIE Bombers relentlessly bombed the city's key infrastructure. To deliver essential supplies to the city's inhabitants, Mon Mothma deployed the distinguished Rogue Squadron, under the leadership of Commander Luke Skywalker, to provide escort for an armored hovertrain carrying crucial resources into the city. Upon reaching the city, Rogue Squadron cleared the landing zone for three Rebel evacuation shuttles. As the shuttles landed, they were immediately targeted by AT-ST walker fire. Rogue Squadron successfully prevented the six AT-STs from destroying the shuttles, allowing the safe departure of the civilian-filled shuttles.
While engaged in combat with the AT-STs, Rogue Squadron strategically targeted a lone AT-ST positioned near a shuttle landing area, recovering advanced bombs from its wreckage.
Subsequently, three TIE Interceptors along with three TIE bombers arrived to continue the assault initiated by the previous wave. However, Rogue Squadron thwarted their efforts by returning to the city and eliminating them before they could inflict significant damage, thereby safeguarding the city.
Moff Seerdon was present on the planet during the conflict, and he seized the opportunity to mock his former subordinate, Kasan Moor, via commlink, nearly provoking her into launching an attack against him. However, Commander Skywalker deemed pursuing Seerdon too perilous and prevented his squadron from engaging. In response to the attack on Chandrila, Rogue Squadron launched an operation to destroy Seerdon's Capacitor located on the volcanic world of Sullust. Seerdon exploited this temporary diversion to launch a large-scale attack on Thyferra, seizing the Rebellion's critical bacta supplies.
After the Rebel efforts frustrated Seerdon, he directed his forces to establish a blockade of the sector.
The Chandrila Blockade is featured in the 1998 video game Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. The player's initial objective was to protect both the train and the city from destruction, as the loss of either would result in mission failure. During the mission, as the three landing craft dock to evacuate the citizens of Chandrila, the narrator who provides briefings and in-game mission updates, introduces a new objective while the game is paused: "Protect the evacuation shuttles," marking the debut of a side mission within the game.
