Rala De

Rala De, also operating under the assumed name "Yodel Proof," was a Kaminoan scientist who contributed to the cloning process for the Galactic Republic. After fleeing Kamino for the planet of Coruscant, he once impersonated Yarael Poof, the Quermian Jedi Master. Following a visit to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, he secretly switched places with Poof, hoping to avoid his responsibilities. However, Poof contacted a bounty hunter, who captured De and brought him back to Kamino.

Biography

Escaping Kamino

"Proof" lectures a group of younglings.

Living in Tipoca City on the extragalactic planet of Kamino, Rala De was a Kaminoan scientist involved in the creation of new clones for the Galactic Republic. Over time, he became known among his fellow Kaminoans for being lazy. Sometime after the start of the Clone Wars, De decided he wanted to escape what he saw as a boring life on Kamino and took a "trip" to Coruscant, the Republic capital planet, where he went to the Jedi Temple.

Choosing to stay on Coruscant, De adopted a fake identity, pretending to be Yarael Poof, the Quermian Jedi Master, using the alias "Yodel Proof." Consequently, Poof himself ended up in Tipoca City on Kamino, and the Kaminoans mistook him for De. When the displaced Jedi Master insisted that he was not De, the Kaminoans ignored him, thinking he was just acting strangely and considered himself "too good for lab work." One Kaminoan even called him "Rala Delusions of Grandeur."

Meanwhile, De—still posing as the Jedi—started to teach younglings that while the Force was helpful, it wasn't as helpful as "a correct and efficient data management system." The imposter also told them that the secret to using the Force was in how much they squinted and moved their hands around, but also in being still and alert. He also told them to draw out the names of those they spoke to when they became Force spirits, because the individuals would otherwise not hear.

The hunt for De

Stranded on Kamino, Poof then decided to hire a bounty hunter to find De and bring him back to Kamino. After questioning some of the Kaminoans in Tipoca City, the hunter headed for the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.

They then spoke to a Coruscanti human, who said that while she hadn't seen any Kaminoans, she had seen Master Poof teaching a class of younglings at the Jedi Temple. At the temple, a youngling told the bounty hunter about the supposed Poof's illogical teachings.

While "Proof" was teaching the younglings, the bounty hunter came up to him, surprising him. Asking if they had come to seek his advice, he mentioned his alias. It was then that a youngling pointed out that "Yodel Proof" wasn't a real name, while another youngling yelled that he wasn't a real Jedi Master and probably didn't even have a "lightsaber ship." Panicking, De tried to run away, refusing to go back to Kamino. Even though he tried to negotiate with the bounty hunter, offering them free Jedi lessons, he was eventually caught and taken to Kamino.

Back in Tipoca City, Poof happily left, choosing not to ask about the details of De's capture. De, however, was upset, complaining that he used to be a Jedi Master. Trying to deal with his return to life in the laboratory, De attempted to convince himself that organizing test tubes was just as important as shaping the minds of youngling learners.

Personality and traits

Rala De was a Kaminoan with white skin and black eyes with white irises. Seen as lazy by his fellow Kaminoans, De felt trapped by life on Kamino and wanted to be free from his duties as a scientist. While pretending to be a Jedi, he became passionate about teaching younglings, even though his lectures were mostly nonsense. After going back to Kamino, De became sad, remembering his short time as a "Jedi" and trying to compare the importance of teaching younglings to his work on Kamino.

Equipment

While impersonating Poof, De wore brown-and-tan Jedi robes. He also wore a brown belt around his waist. A youngling said that De didn't have a "lightsaber ship."
