Ranger Grotto

The Ranger Grotto served as the clandestine headquarters for the Mon Calamari Rangers throughout both the Second Imperial Civil War and the tragic events of the Massacre of New Coral City. This secret refuge was situated far below the surface in the Dac oceans, meticulously concealed from the detection systems employed by Imperial forces loyal to Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire. Within its confines, the Rangers, along with their commander Tanquar, found sanctuary while executing swift, disruptive strikes against the Imperials, who were engaged in the systematic annihilation of the Mon Calamari people. Furthermore, the grotto provided shelter to Imperial Knight Treis Sinde, who offered assistance and guidance to the Rangers in their unconventional warfare against the Empire. The Rangers' specialized underwater fighters, known as Krakana, were moored within the grotto, suspended from the base's upper structure. This base was located only a short distance from the Soheras Trench.

After an unsuccessful operation aimed at seizing an Acklay-class mobile fortress, the Mon Calamari Rangers escorted a contingent of rescued civilians back to their hidden grotto. Nevertheless, Sinde refused to permit the refugees to remain, citing the logistical challenges of providing sustenance and the heightened risk of Imperial discovery due to an increased presence at the base. A disagreement ensued between Tanquar and Sinde regarding this decision; however, the refugees themselves concurred with the Imperial Knight's evaluation, expressing their desire to avoid jeopardizing the safety of their protectors.
