A tragic massacre unfolded in New Coral City on the planet of Dac in 137 ABY. This horrific event took place following the battle between the Galactic Alliance Remnant and the Imperial Outer Rim Third Fleet. This marked the grim beginning of the Genocide on Dac.
Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire was in the process of constructing an Advanced Star Destroyer, known as the Imperious, at Dac. Admiral Dru Valan strategically utilized this newly built warship as bait, intending to ensnare the Galactic Alliance Remnant under the command of Gar Stazi. The ensuing battle however, resulted in the Imperious being stolen and the Remnant forces successfully escaping.
Following the Imperial forces' defeat, Emperor Darth Krayt was enraged by the Alliance's successful theft of his Empire's flagship. Accompanied by several Sith Lords, he journeyed to Dac. Upon meeting with the Mon Calamari Council, he presented the recently apprehended Gial Gahan. He revealed his long-held knowledge of the Mon Calamari's clandestine support for Stazi over the past seven years, declaring that he had reached his limit.
Instead of choosing to punish Gahan for his betrayal of the Empire, Krayt decreed that ten percent of the Mon Calamari population of Dac would be executed, starting with the members of the Mon Calamari Council. The remaining population would be subjected to internment in labor camps.

As soon as Krayt gave the order, his stormtroopers and Sith Lords, including Darth Azard, began the execution of every Mon Calamarian present. Even the Quarren, who had been given positions of authority by the Sith Empire, were executed if they opposed or questioned the Emperor's commands. With the massacre underway, Emperor Krayt personally carried out the execution of Gial Gahan.
Treis Sinde and Sigel Dare, who were Imperial Knights from the Empire-in-exile, were present in New Coral City. They were there to warn Stazi about explosives that had been planted on the Imperious before its capture. Amidst the ensuing chaos, they utilized their lightsabers to fight through the stormtroopers and rescue Monia Gahan, Gial Gahan's niece and a member of the Remnant's Rogue Squadron. Gahan agreed to lead them to Stazi, but only if they rescued other Remnant pilots who were being held as prisoners on the planet after the battle.
The two Knights, along with the young Mon Calamari, launched an assault on the prison where the Rogues were being detained. They quickly succeeded in freeing the prisoners, which included the Klatooinian named Ronto. When the Sith Lord Darth Azard confronted them, Sinde engaged him, successfully diverting the Quarren's attention away from his comrades' escape. An explosion, set off by Ronto, brought the duel to an abrupt end, allowing Master Sinde to escape.
Dare, Gahan, Ronto, and the remaining pilots successfully reached Admiral Stazi. Meanwhile, Master Sinde went into hiding, joining a resistance cell comprised of Mon Calamari freedom fighters who had formed to oppose the Sith Empire's genocidal oppression.
Krayt's command to eliminate 10% of the Mon Calamari population might be a reference to the Roman Empire's method of punishing cowardice or mutiny through decimation, which literally translates to "removal of one-tenth."
