Reiva Carrick, a female Human from the planet of Phaeda, worked as a gardener and was the mother of Zayne Carrick, a Jedi Padawan. She was married to Arvan Carrick, a banker, and together they had five children, with Zayne as their only son. In the year 3977 BBY, Zayne, at the age of five years, was discovered to be Force-sensitive and subsequently sent to the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine. Despite the fact that his connection to the Force was not particularly strong, Jedi Master Vandar Tokare assured Reiva that the Jedi Order would provide a safe environment for her son. Later, in 3964 BBY, Zayne was falsely accused of murdering four other Padawans in his class, a charge that Reiva and the rest of her family vehemently disbelieved.
Reiva Carrick, a female Human, hailed from the planet of Phaeda, situated within the Outer Rim Territories. Working as a gardener, she entered into marriage with Arvan Carrick, a banker, and together they had five children. Their only son, Zayne, was born in 3982 BBY. Shortly after Zayne celebrated his fifth birthday, it was discovered that he was Force-sensitive, leading to his referral to the Jedi Enclave on the planet Dantooine. The Jedi Knight suggesting Zayne's transfer to Dantooine informed Reiva that the boy possessed only a minimal connection to the Force. This assessment was later confirmed on Dantooine by Jedi Master Vandar Tokare; however, the Jedi were impressed by Zayne's ability to connect with the other younglings at the Enclave. The Jedi spent the entire morning examining young Zayne, and after it was over, Reiva sought out Tokare, hoping to learn more about her son's prospects. Despite Reiva's reservations about the safety of the Jedi Order for her child, particularly in light of the Great Sith War that had occurred some time prior, Tokare reassured her that Zayne would be safe under the Jedi's protection.
In 3964 BBY, Zayne, now a Padawan receiving training on Taris, faced accusations of murdering four of his fellow students. Zayne fled, and news of the accusations eventually reached the Carrick family. Reiva and her husband refused to believe that their son was capable of such an act, although it created difficulties at home. Several weeks later, Arvan received a transfer to the major corporate world of Telerath. Reiva and Arvan suspected that this opportunity was related to the news surrounding their son, and they relocated to Telerath with their four daughters. In 3963 BBY, Arvan was kidnapped by the Moomo Brothers, a pair of Ithorian bounty hunters, but was rescued by Zayne, who happened to be on Telerath at the time. Following this ordeal, Reiva, Arvan, and their daughters left Telerath and moved to Dantooine, where Tokare warmly welcomed them at the Jedi Enclave.
When Zayne was young, Reiva Carrick was very protective of her son, and worried about his safety if he were to join the Jedi Order. However, Master Vandar Tokare alleviated her concerns. Like her husband, Carrick refused to believe that Zayne was responsible for the deaths of the other Padawans on Taris, knowing it was not in his nature. Carrick had fair skin and brown hair.
Reiva Carrick was first mentioned indirectly in the comic Knights of the Old Republic 2, which was written by John Jackson Miller and released by Dark Horse Comics on January 25, 2006. Her first appearance was in a flashback in the subsequent issue, also penned by John Jackson Miller, with illustrations by Brian Ching, and published on February 22 of the same year.
