Rekara was a Mon Calamari female who served within the Diplomatic Corps of the Alliance to Restore the Republic's. As the devoted retainer to the diplomat Mors Odrion, she accompanied him on a mission to the planet of Sedri. While present on the planet, Karak, the Sedrian Bishop of war, along with his renegades, took Odrion captive. Rekara, however, successfully evaded capture and journeyed to Delta Base located on New Kisge in search of assistance.
Serving as the retainer for Alliance to Restore the Republic dignitary Mors Odrion was Rekara's duty. They were engaged in the work of recruiting and obtaining resources for the burgeoning Rebellion. In the course of their work, Rekara and Odrion began to receive reports regarding a newly discovered, unusual waterworld and the new Imperial garrison established there. Opting to investigate further, Odrion made the choice to become more directly involved in the conflict. Accompanied by Rekara, he set a course for the planet of Sedri.
Despite the warnings issued by the starship's navigation computer, Rekara and Odrion successfully arrived at Sedri. The planet seemed to radiate with golden seas. Seeking the source of this radiance, Rekara and Odrion concealed their ship within a rocky inlet. The source of the glow then diminished, and Rekara and Odrion were taken prisoner by a group of Sedrians, the native sentient species of the world.
Karak, the renegades' leader, employed a piece of coral to extract information from Odrion's mind, which included details about the Rebellion, the Empire, and Odrion's mission to Sedri. Odrion was kept under constant guard while imprisoned, but Rekara was left alone within a locked room. She succeeded in escaping when no guards were present. Realizing she couldn't rescue Odrion, Rekara instead stole the piece of coral used to extract information from him. As she fled to their hidden ship, Rekara was unaware that her actions with the coral had caused it to die. The coral's cry resonated deeply within Rekara's mind, driving her insane. Despite this, Rekara managed to launch the ship and set a course for the Alliance's Delta Base.
Upon reaching the Alliance base, Rekara emerged from the ship in a state of delirium, rambling about the Golden Sun. An Alliance team was assembled for a rescue and investigation mission. Rekara, gradually recovering from the coral's effects and only occasionally lucid, was included in the mission at the request of Alliance High Command, who believed her presence would be valuable. Once on Sedri, Rekara's behavior became increasingly coherent, eventually culminating in her returning the piece of coral to the sun caves beneath Fitsay. Alongside the Sedrians Pek and Fala, Rekara assisted one of the Alliance team members, chosen as the champion of the Golden Sun, in defeating Karak and liberating the Golden Sun from its confinement.
