Ruurian

Ruuria's inhabitants, the Ruurians, were a species of thinking sentients hailing from the planet of Ruuria. They possessed multiple limbs and distinctive feathered antennae. One example is Slyyth, a Ruurian criminal who resided on Lothal circa 3272 LY.

Biology and appearance

The Ruurian's existence unfolded through a trio of distinct biological phases. Their life began in a larva-like form, characterized by sixteen limbs, large compound eyes, feathered antennae, and underdeveloped wings. As they matured, they transitioned into a pupal state, encasing themselves in a cocoon and undergoing internal transformations where larval structures were replaced. Finally, the Ruurian would emerge from this pupal stage as a beautiful chroma-wing. In this final form, Ruurians were driven solely by the desires to eat, mate, and gracefully flutter along the riverbanks of their native world.

Society and culture

The final chroma-wing stage was seen by most Ruurians as a desirable destiny. However, some individuals were overcome with dread at the prospect of permanent transformation, viewing this metamorphosis as a fate worse than death. These fearful larvae could receive specialized treatments to prevent them from entering their final biological stage. Information about Ruurians could be found in "Species From A to Z," a survival guide disseminated by Carson Teva during the New Republic Era.

Ruurians in the galaxy

S. V. Skynx was a Ruurian who lived before Kho Phon Farrus enrolled at the University of Bar'leth, which was several years prior to 3 ABY. A statue commemorating Skynx was located at the University. Another Ruurian of note was the pickpocket Slyyth, who operated on Lothal under the rule of the Galactic Empire and collaborated with Ezra Bridger on several occasions.
