On the planet of Lothal, the Spectres are shown distributing food-filled crates to the inhabitants of Tarkintown, a destitute settlement populated by individuals displaced due to the Imperial occupation. Garazeb Orrelios extends a greeting to Mindiz, one of the younger residents who has been fending for herself since her parents' arrest by the Empire. Orrelios hands her a jogan fruit, but as she begins consuming it, she complains about a headache and collapses. Concerned, the Spectres relocate her to a row of cots where several other citizens are also lying unconscious. Upon discovering that they've been poisoned, Hera Syndulla analyzes the toxin and reveals that a synthetic antidote exists. The crew becomes disheartened, realizing that the cure is only accessible in Capital City, which is under Imperial control. Orrelios feels responsible for the situation, and despite Kanan Jarrus's attempts to reassure him, he walks away, lost in thought. Sometime later, Syndulla rushes to inform Jarrus that both Orrelios and the Phantom are missing. Alarmed, Jarrus explains that Orrelios likely feels the poisoning is his fault, understanding that the Lasat will go to any lengths to correct his mistake.
In the meantime, Orrelios strides purposefully through Capital City, seeking the antidote. Spotting a medical facility, he concludes that it might contain the antidote and ambushes a stormtrooper on guard. Orrelios swiftly incapacitates the trooper and commandeers the nearby Imperial transport, skillfully navigating it around the sudden bursts of fire from a walker that confronts him. The walker's shots miss repeatedly, damaging the surrounding Imperial structures. Orrelios's confidence in his escape grows until he's cornered by a TIE fighter, but the fighter inadvertently shoots down the walker, providing the Lasat with an opportunity to use his transport's guns against the fighter.
Orrelios enters the medical facility, bo-rifle in hand, and engages in combat with Agent Alexsandr Kallus, who is supported by stormtroopers, for possession of a bottle of green antidote medicine. Kallus taunts Orrelios during the fight, revealing that he poisoned the stolen food to teach the rebels a lesson about stealing from the Empire. Orrelios begins to gain the advantage in the fight, but Kallus electrocutes him with his bo-rifle, leaving the Lasat defenseless. Kallus proudly declares that his enemy is alone, with no one to rescue him, and demands his last words. Just then, the crew of the Ghost appears, weapons drawn, to defend Orrelios, whom Jarrus declares will never be alone. A blaster battle erupts between the rebels and the stormtroopers, and Syndulla communicates with Chopper via her comlink, who pilots the Ghost single-handedly during the fight, shooting down Imperial walkers. Jarrus supports Orrelios as they exit the facility, and Syndulla pilots the Phantom toward the Ghost. Ezra Bridger jokingly remarks to Orrelios that he saved his life, to which the Lasat replies with exasperation.
The rebels make their escape aboard the Ghost and return to Tarkintown, where they begin administering the recovered antidote to the poisoned Lothalites. Jarrus reprimands Orrelios for leaving on his own, to which Orrelios responds that he felt responsible and couldn't stand by while Mindiz died. After receiving the cure, the young girl regains consciousness, and Orrelios, overjoyed and apologetic, promises that he will always be there to protect her. As the crew reboards the Ghost, Jarrus suggests that they scan the food before future deliveries to Tarkintown, and Syndulla concurs. Orrelios bids farewell to Mindiz, and when she expresses her fear of being alone again, he assures her that she is never alone. He jokingly tells Jarrus that he is already learning, and the Jedi responds that he will be the judge of that, anticipating future encounters with Kallus.
