The concluding episode of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series' sixth season, titled "Sacrifice," debuted on Netflix for US and Canadian viewers on March 7, 2014. Prior to the Season Seven announcement on July 19, 2018, it served as the series' finale. The German broadcast on Super RTL occurred on March 8, 2014. "Gone with a Trace," the fifth episode of Season Seven, follows this episode in chronological order.
In order to learn the Force's secrets and how to maintain his identity post-mortem, Yoda arrives on Moraband, the original homeworld of the Sith, for the final trial set by the Force Priestesses. He instructs R2-D2 to return to Coruscant if he does not reappear within three nights.
As Yoda traverses Moraband's desolate landscape, an illusion of a massive serpent materializes. Despite the appearance of specters of Sith warriors, Yoda remains unafraid and unharmed. Simultaneously, Count Dooku senses an anomaly and is promptly summoned back to Coruscant by Darth Sidious.
Upon entering a Sith temple on Moraband, Yoda is confronted by a specter of Darth Bane. Recognizing Bane, the Jedi Master listens as Bane recounts the creation of the Rule of Two and its transmission to a single successor one. After Yoda dismisses him as an illusion, Bane vanishes, and the Force Priestesses inform Yoda of his final trial: entering a dark temple where the Sith once sacrificed Jedi, the nature of which remains unknown to them.
On Coruscant, Darth Sidious plots an attack on Yoda using Sith sorcery, exploiting Darth Tyranus' connection to the Jedi Master. Utilizing Tyranus' blood, Sidious conjures an illusion fueled by the Force lightning of both Sith Lords.
Inside the temple on Moraband, Yoda encounters an apparition of a dying Sifo-Dyas. Sifo-Dyas implores Yoda to free him and reveals his knowledge of the Sith Lord's secret identity. However, Yoda rejects the illusion as a Sith temptation and refuses to acknowledge his desires.
Subsequently, Sifo-Dyas transforms into Darth Sidious, and Yoda finds himself aboard a gunship alongside Anakin Skywalker, Rex, and the clones of the 501st Legion. Confused, Yoda questions Skywalker, who explains that a mysterious ship, possibly of Separatist origin and carrying Count Dooku, was detected landing in The Works. Realizing that Dooku is meeting with the Sith Lord, Yoda resolves to expose him. Upon arriving at their destination, the Jedi and clones confront Count Dooku and Darth Sidious. Dooku incapacitates the clones with Force lightning, while Anakin engages him in a lightsaber duel. Yoda pursues Darth Sidious, only to witness Skywalker injure Dooku's leg, forcing him to kneel, and seize the Sith's lightsaber. Despite Yoda's protests, Anakin beheads Dooku, leaving Yoda with no choice but to continue his pursuit of Sidious, who flees the chamber.
The confrontation between Yoda and Sidious continues on an outdoor walkway, where Anakin joins the fray but is quickly incapacitated by Sidious' Force lightning. As Yoda continues to battle, the walkway supporting Anakin begins to collapse. Using the Force to prevent the unconscious Skywalker from falling, Yoda defends himself against Sidious with his lightsaber. Sidious suggests that Yoda sacrifice Skywalker to secure victory and thwart his plans. Willing to sacrifice everything, including himself, Yoda sheathes his lightsaber and endures direct hits from Sidious' Force lightning to save his friend.
As the walkway beneath Yoda and Sidious begins to crumble, Yoda hurls his lightsaber at Sidious, severing the remaining support and preventing the Sith from escaping. Both Yoda and Sidious plummet to the ground below, but when Yoda removes the Sith Lord's hood, he finds only empty robes.
Having completed his final trial, Yoda awakens from the nightmare, and the Force Priestesses declare that he will train with Qui-Gon Jinn to retain his identity in the afterlife. Yoda experiences a vision of the future and hears his own final words, "There is Another Skywalker." Back on Coruscant, Darth Sidious and Darth Tyranus acknowledge their failure to break Yoda, realizing that they require more time to completely eradicate the Jedi.
Upon his return to Coruscant, Yoda is greeted by Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi. While the Jedi High Council eagerly awaits his report, Yoda downplays his experiences. Concealing his newfound knowledge, Yoda expresses his belief that there may be a better path to victory than the Clone Wars. Yoda posits that the Jedi's participation in the Clone Wars may have already sealed their fate, but that a path unknown to the Sith could lead to a lasting triumph for the Jedi Order.

"Sacrifice" marks the debut of Moraband, the homeworld of the Sith, in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. During the story's development, George Lucas opted for the name "Moraband" over the previously established "Korriban," which is reflected in the episode. However, the episode guide's trivia section suggests that Moraband may have been known by different names throughout its history.
The illusion experienced by Yoda foreshadows several events from Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Anakin Skywalker's method of killing Dooku closely mirrors his actual death, with the key difference being Anakin's injury to Dooku's leg (reminiscent of Dooku's injury to Obi-Wan Kenobi in Attack of the Clones) instead of severing his hands. Furthermore, the dynamic of the fight between Darth Sidious and Yoda, including the destruction of the bridges and Yoda's defense against Sidious' Force lightning, echoes their confrontation in Revenge of the Sith.
Similar to "The Wrong Jedi," this episode concludes with a fade to black rather than the traditional iris out wipe.
