Sanctuary Mount, located on Capital Key within the Gem Cities of Kwenn of the planet Kwenn, functioned as a Jedi Order outpost. The name "Sanctuary Mount" referred both to the elevated landform and the Jedi installation hewn into its structure.
As part of the Grand Renewal, a component of the Great Works during the High Republic Era, the outpost was constructed with assistance from Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis. The Unquenchable Flame was lit nightly, serving as a reminder to the Kwenn people of the Jedi's support. Two years later, the outpost remained operational under the stewardship of Seneschal Voh, but it was not visited by Jedi frequently.
The Jedi High Council considered the Kwenn outpost when discussing the closure of underutilized facilities to better allocate resources. While some Masters hesitated to consider its closure, Master Mace Windu suggested that Council members undertake a visit to the Kwenn outpost to assess the situation and engage with the planet's inhabitants before making a decision.
During the Defense of Kwenn, Zilastra's actions resulted in the bombing and destruction of the Sanctuary Mount outpost. Following the battle, the decision was made not to rebuild the outpost. Instead, the mountaintop was cleared to accommodate a new brazier, intended to be lit daily by the people of Kwenn rather than the Jedi.
