A compact sensor array was constructed just outside the city of Kwilaan on the planet of Naboo. Access to the array was granted by a staircase, flanked on each side by three statues representing Humans. The Human Naboo used it, and it was staffed by a pair of technicians and lightly defended by a quartet of Palace Guards.
In 32 BBY, the Trade Federation set their sights on the sensor array as part of the preparations for their invasion of Naboo. Their strategy involved deploying jamming satellites in orbit around the planet to disrupt Naboo's communications, and they required the array to be offline for a number of hours to install them without detection. Raymas Daal, an operative of the Trade Federation, engaged a team of mercenaries to disable the sensor array. This team knocked out the palace guards and then dealt with the technicians to successfully disable the array, which then allowed the Trade Federation to deploy their satellites.
The sensor array is mentioned in the Star Wars: Invasion of Theed Adventure Game scenario entitled "Signal Interruption," penned by Jesse Decker and released on the Wizards of the Coast website on August 9, 2001. The scenario allows players to take on the roles of the agents employed by Daal, who the scenario suggests might be the playable characters from the Invasion of Theed Adventure Game: Dané, Galak, Rann I-Kanu, Arani Korden, Rorworr, Deel Surool, Toba, and Sia-Lan Wezz. To succeed in the scenario, players must devise a plan to overcome the Palace Guards at the array, choosing between a stealthy approach or a direct assault. They also have to decide how to handle the technicians, with Decker noting that the technicians will only retaliate if attacked first, and even then, they are more likely to try to escape. This article proceeds on the assumption that the events of "Signal Interruption" unfolded as described in the text.
