Serenata, a Corellian hound, was one of three dogs owned by the Grindalid, Prybolt Garavult, the other two being Beeta and Sibak. She was a member of the Supreme Coronet City Diplomat Protection [bodyguard](/article/bodyguard] service, which was run by Alys Ongwa and based in Coronet City on the [planet](/article/planet] of Corellia. Back in 230 BBY, Prybolt and the rest of Ongwa's team were hired to protect Father of Finances Nomar Tralmat while he attended a meeting in the Syllain District. As per Tralmat's request, Garavult, Ovarto Bitolo-Bash, and the three hounds waited outside the meeting location. Growing concerned, Garavult eventually led the hounds inside, where they found Tralmat on the floor with a bloodied nose and a masked Er'Kit woman standing over him. Garavult ordered the hounds to attack the woman, but before they could reach her, Beeta was killed. The Er'Kit then released gas into the room, causing the remaining two hounds to cry out. The masked woman escaped, and Garavult managed to get the Father of Finances out of the building. Shortly after these events, Tralmat disappeared, and Garavult met his end at the hands of the Er'Kit.
Later on, other hounds from the crew were deployed to assist Prybolt, Ovarto, and Tralmat within the Syllain District. Instead of their intended target, the hounds located Serenata at the end of a block and alerted Ongwa. Ongwa and Barchibar then discovered remnants of Garavult's [robes](/article/robe] fabric lodged in Serenata's back teeth. The implications of this discovery flooded Ongwa's mind, yet none of them seemed to make logical sense.
