Sif-Alula

Sif-Alula, an astronomical object, was situated within the Trestis sector of the Expansion Region. It lent its name to the Sif-Alulan process, a method where the Sisters of the Machinesmith analyzed and enhanced Galactic Republic technologies leading up to the Waymancy Storm of 7811 BBY. During that time of war, the Republic seized weapons and starship power generators from the Signatories of Waymancy at Sif-Alula, enabling them to investigate their adversaries' military advancements.

Description

This celestial body, Sif-Alula, was found within the Sif-Alula system. It was a component of the Expansion Region's Trestis sector, residing in both the Outer Expansion Zone sub-region and the Northern Dependencies area of the region. The name Sif-Alula bore a resemblance to that of the Colonies planet Sif-Uwana.

History

In the millennium preceding the Waymancy Storm in 7811 BBY, the Sisters of the Machinesmith, operating from Waymancy Hollow, engaged in the Sif-Alulan process, studying and improving upon technologies of the Galactic Republic, such as power generators. During the Waymancy Storm, the Republic Navy successfully captured weapons and starship generators belonging to their enemy, the Signatories of Waymancy, at Sif-Alula. Following this, Republic technologists at a shipyard in Axum endeavored to decode the Sif-Alulan process utilized in the production of the captured technology.

On the 25th anniversary of Victory in the Waymancy Storm, in 7786 BBY, Republic Supreme Chancellor Nagratha delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of the knowledge derived from the technology seized at Sif-Alula to the Republic's war efforts. Between 12 ABY and 13 ABY, Sif-Alula was located within the boundaries of the New Republic.

Behind the scenes

Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart introduced Sif-Alula in their 2012 reference work, The Essential Guide to Warfare. The StarWars.com Online Companion for the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas pinpointed the Sif-Alula system, and consequently the celestial body itself, in grid square K-8.
