Signal jammer Alpha was the identifier assigned to a signal jammer. This device was employed by the Mantellian Separatist Movement amid the civil war that occurred on the planet of Ord Mantell.
Alongside two other similar devices, specifically signal jammers Beta and Delta, this jammer was situated within the small settlement of Drelliad village. The Separatists held control of this village for a duration during the conflict. While positioned there, its purpose was to disrupt communication between Republic Army units attacking the village and Fort Garnik, the nearby Republic military base. Sergeant Blyes, a Republic soldier dispatched to seize Drelliad, noticed the disrupted transmissions and started seeking a method to deactivate the jammers.
Blyes requested assistance from a member of Havoc Squad and a smuggler to dismantle the signal jammers. The pair agreed to the task. They battled their way through the town, eliminating the Separatist guards protecting the jammers, and subsequently disabled all three devices. Following this, they returned to Blyes, who was then able to transmit information to Fort Garnik. They received a reward from him in recognition of their assistance.
Signal jammer Alpha made its initial appearance in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic. This game was launched by BioWare in 2011. The jammer is one of three interactive objectives for players in an optional quest. This quest is available to low-level smugglers and troopers on Ord Mantell, the starting planet for these classes.
