Signal jammer Beta was the identifier given to a signal jammer utilized by the Mantellian Separatist Movement amidst the civil war occurring on the planet of Ord Mantell.
The jammer, along with two others known as signal jammers Alpha and Delta, was positioned within the small settlement of Drelliad village. The Separatists held control of this village for a duration during the conflict. Its function was to disrupt communications between Republic Army units attacking the village and Fort Garnik, the nearby Republic military base. Sergeant Blyes, a Republic soldier dispatched to seize Drelliad, noticed the disruption of his transmissions and sought a solution to deactivate the jammers.
Blyes enlisted the aid of a member from Havoc squad along with a smuggler to demolish the signal jammers on his behalf, an offer they accepted. They battled their way into the settlement, eliminated the Separatist guards protecting the jammers, and proceeded to disable all three devices. Subsequently, they returned to Blyes, who was then able to transmit intelligence to Fort Garnik, and received a reward from him for their assistance.
Signal jammer Beta made its initial appearance in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic, developed by BioWare and launched in 2011. The jammer serves as one of the three interactive objectives players must engage with in an optional side quest. This quest is accessible to low-level smugglers and troopers on Ord Mantell, the starting planet for these classes.
