The incident that occurred at the New Umboo Lightstation was a relatively small-scale confrontation. It pitted Tawntoom and the forces of the Galactic Empire against Mungo Baobab and the individuals who were allied with him. Baobab, accompanied by his droids, namely C-3PO and R2-D2, was on a search for the planet known as Roon. They were traveling aboard the vessel named Caravel. Unexpectedly, a tractor beam emanating from the New Umboo Lightstation pulled their ship inside. Initially, the three were mistaken as representatives of the Empire. However, their true identities were discovered, leading to their capture when Admiral Terrinald Screed arrived with his contingent of stormtroopers.
R2-D2 successfully freed Baobab, along with another prisoner named Noop Yeldarb, before proceeding to rescue C-3PO. The group of four then made their escape from the station using a cloudcraft. Their flight triggered a chain reaction involving reserves of Nergon-14, which then impacted the engines. This event caused a series of malfunctions that ultimately resulted in the station's collision with an asteroid belt.
Following their escape from the station, Baobab and his companions were joined by Bisad Koong and Gaff, who fled with Screed aboard Baobab's own ship, the Caravel. This turn of events allowed Yeldarb to regain control of the Umboo lightstation, which Koong had previously shut down. Yeldarb was then able to guide Baobab towards Roon.
In the year 15 BBY, shortly after the events that transpired on Biitu, Mungo Baobab continued his mission to find Roonstones and establish a new trade route connecting Manda to Roon. This was a long-standing aspiration of his family's Baobab Merchant Fleet. To achieve this, Baobab, accompanied by his loyal droid companions C-3PO and R2-D2, arranged a meeting with his contact, Krox, at a local cantina. The purpose of the meeting was to obtain a map leading to the Roon system. However, their meeting was interrupted by the arrival of three Imperial stormtroopers who intended to arrest Baobab. To create a diversion, R2 amplified the stormtroopers' audio sensors, giving Baobab and the droids the opportunity to escape on their speeder to the Baobab Archives in order to decipher the information.
R2 successfully translated and recorded the information provided by Krox. C-3PO then translated the information, revealing that the Roon system was located within a dust cloud known as The Cloak of the Sith. Baobab and the droids then departed from Manda aboard the Caravel, following the Rainbow Comets in the direction of the Roon system, based on the information recorded by R2. However, upon emerging from the dust cloud, the Caravel was caught in a tractor beam and pulled inside the New Umboo Lightstation.

Once inside, Baobab and the droids encountered Bisad Koong, who served as the governor of the Tawntoom province on Roon, and Gaff. Koong and Gaff believed that Baobab and the droids were Imperial emissaries with whom Koong wished to conduct business. The trio maintained this deception, being shown Koong's operations, until Admiral Terrinald Screed and two stormtroopers arrived for the meeting with Koong. This revealed Baobab and the droids as imposters, leading to their escape attempt and Screed's stormtroopers pursuing them. The stormtroopers managed to disable the droids, while Gaff incapacitated Baobab when he was cornered.
Screed decided to allow Koong to keep the astromech droid, while he ordered Baobab to be placed in a force cage containing mupples and C-3PO to be prepared for a memory wipe, as he had use for a protocol droid. Gaff went to oversee the memory wipe, while R2 was immediately assigned to moving cargo. Meanwhile, Baobab encountered fellow prisoner Noop Yeldarb, who revealed that he had previously overseen the Umboo lightstation before Koong closed it down and imprisoned him. Shortly after, R2 created a smoke-filled distraction to allow for Baobab's release, narrowly avoiding a blaster bolt that disabled both force cages. This allowed them to distract Gaff long enough to free 3PO from his restraints and prevent the memory wipe from taking place.

The group of four managed to evade their captors, but in the chaos that followed, Gaff instructed the stormtroopers to prevent the crates of Nergon-14 from hitting the engines. However, the troopers were unsuccessful, and the explosives struck the engines, triggering a chain reaction that sent the ship on a collision course with a nearby asteroid belt. This forced Koong and Gaff to flee with Screed aboard Baobab's Caravel, while Baobab and his allies escaped on Koong's cloudcraft just before the station collided with the asteroid belt in an explosion that significantly impacted Koong's piracy operations.
Screed was not impressed with Koong's performance, having already been disappointed with Koong's operations. He ordered that Koong and Gaff be locked in the brig, as a temporary measure. Meanwhile, Yeldarb was able to regain control of the Umboo Lightstation, and he managed to guide Baobab and the droids to Roon. The mupples were also safely aboard the cloudcraft, much to 3PO's displeasure, as the mupples had developed a fondness for him.
