Star Wars #6 represents the sixth installment in the Legends continuity of the Star Wars comic book series. This issue, with story by Roy Thomas and artwork by Howard Chaykin, was initially released by Marvel Comics on September 13, 1977. The narrative, titled "The Final Chapter?," presents an adaptation of the concluding scenes from the movie Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.

Publisher's summary

The adaptation of A New Hope reaches its climax! Will the Rebel forces succeed in their mission to obliterate the Death Star?

Plot summary

The Rebel Alliance finds its base situated on Yavin 4 facing imminent destruction from the Death Star, leading them to dispatch a squadron of T-65 X-wing starfighters with the objective of eliminating the massive space station. A space battle then unfolds involving the X-wings clashing with Imperial TIE fighters. Ultimately, Luke Skywalker, with the crucial assistance of Han Solo and Chewbacca, discovers and exploits a minute vulnerability in the Death Star, resulting in its destruction and the salvation of the Rebellion. Following this victory, a royal award ceremony takes place on Yavin 4 to honor the Rebel heroes.

Continuity

Similar to what occurred in issue 5, Red Squadron is mistakenly referred to as Blue Squadron.

With Star Wars #6, the first name of Rebel pilot Porkins, Tono, was revealed for the first time. However, the 1989 publication Galaxy Guide 1: A New Hope subsequently identified Porkins' first name as Jek. This inconsistency was later addressed via retcon in the 2002 article entitled "Wraith Squadron: The Dirty Dozen of Star Wars," which established his complete name as Jek Tono Porkins.
