Darkness, Part 3, the thirty-fourth installment of the Star Wars: Republic comic book series, was released by Dark Horse Comics on September 26, 2001.
Volfe Karkko's vampiric and savage Anzati have taken control of Kiffex, the prison planet. Because Karkko is sending his followers to gather beings to satisfy his hunger, every life on the planet is in danger. Three Jedi Knights stuck on the planet are resisting both a cantina packed with furious prisoners and a group of Anzati hunters commanded by Aayla, who was once Quinlan Vos' Padawan. Quin, who is already having trouble resisting the allure of the dark side, is fighting with Jedi Masters Tholme and Zao, as well as the constantly plotting Devaronian Villie. Quin and his allies are joined by yet another enigmatic Jedi following an unexpected encounter with Aayla, and they soon discover that they are caught up in a plot. However, they represent the only chance for survival for the hundreds of inmates on Kiffex, and perhaps even the entire galaxy!
