Strunk, a male human scavenger, made his home on the desert planet Jakku during the Cold War era. He eked out a living as a scavenger, salvaging materials from the Starship Graveyard alongside his companion, Devi. Strunk and Devi once came across a Ghtroc Industries 690 light freighter owned by [Rey](/article/rey_skywalker], another scavenger; they assisted her in its repair, only to then abscond with the ship, fleeing Jakku.
The character of Strunk debuted in Before the Awakening, a young adult novel authored by Greg Rucka and released to the public in 2015.
