Taggart was a captain in the Senate Guard, a male human who served in that role throughout the Clone Wars. He commanded a squad of Senate Commandos tasked with protecting a number of Galactic Republic diplomats as they traveled to Mandalore aboard the GX1 short hauler named Phoenix. Their mission was to facilitate peace talks between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. While these discussions were occurring, Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi Padawan, intervened to save her friend Lux Bonteri from an assassination plot orchestrated by the Confederacy. Tano and Bonteri fled towards the docks, where Taggart's unit was stationed, with BX-series droid commandos from the Confederacy in hot pursuit. Taggart's Senate Guard engaged the pursuing droids, successfully delaying them to allow Tano and Bonteri to make their escape.
