Target Vader #2 constitutes the second installment of the canon comic book miniseries, Star Wars: Target Vader. Robbie Thompson is credited as the writer, while Stefano Landini furnished the illustrations. Marvel Comics released it on August 14, 2019.
The tables are turned as the hunter becomes the hunted! VALANCE and DENGAR are in pursuit of DARTH VADER, simultaneously searching for the ideal weapon to eliminate the SITH LORD. This weapon becomes essential as Vader reverses the situation, trapping the hunters! Furthermore, both the pursuer and the pursued uncover sinister truths about the criminal organization referred to as THE HIDDEN HAND.

Many years prior to the hunt for Vader, a youthful Beilert Valance poses a question to his father, inquiring if he will remain a miner on Chorin indefinitely, mirroring the lives of himself and his grandfather. His father affirms his pride in his profession, while also noting that the Valance family had toiled as miners for countless generations as slaves until the arrival of the Galactic Empire, which granted them their freedom. Beilert's father believed that, being born a free man, his son's destiny lay elsewhere.
In the present timeline, Valance successfully shoots down a pair of TIE fighters while piloting the Broken Wing. Dengar voices his disapproval, but Chio Fain assures him that the TIE fighters were merely reconnaissance units, and Valance had activated a communications jammer. After landing on Arvina, situated in the Outer Rim Territories, Valance instructs Urrr'k to remain with the ship, while he leads the rest of the team to Fetya's Hollow in search of armaments. Fetya welcomes them into her establishment, and Valance reveals that they were commissioned by the Hidden Hand. Fetya acknowledges her own dealings with the organization, highlighting a Rebel Alliance starbird left behind by one of the Hidden Hand's clients, but she denies any association with being a "good guy" and promptly surrounds the crew with armed mercenaries. Before she can eliminate them, however, a Star Destroyer obliterates her shop from above.

Valance's group manages to escape Fetya's Hollow aboard a commandeered troop transport, and he discloses that he did not jam the TIE fighters' communications; instead, he amplified their signal using Hidden Hand call signs. Consequently, Darth Vader himself appears in his TIE fighter and prepares to destroy the crew, but they manage to escape aboard the Broken Wing into hyperspace. Upon exiting hyperspace, Chio Fain explains that he accessed Fetya's records and possesses a list of Hidden Hand outposts that Vader is slated to visit—outposts where they can potentially trap him. Meanwhile, on Arvina, Vader eliminates Fetya and her crew, and his stormtroopers secure her weapons cache. They also inform him that Valance has exited hyperspace, as they received intelligence from an informant regarding Valance's destination.
