Gita

Gita, operating during the Imperial Era, was a human operative working for the Rebel Alliance. Her original occupation involved hunting fauna on the celestial body known as Mytar. To secure weaponry from the Hidden Hand crime organization, Gita adopted an alias: "Urrr'k," a Tusken Raider sniper. As Urrr'k, she was enlisted by Gwi, the head of the Hidden Hand, into a team under the command of Beilert Valance, a cyborg bounty hunter, to participate in the hunt targeting the Sith Lord Darth Vader.

While undercover, Gita communicated details regarding her squad to her Rebel superior, Aeliar, which enabled the Alliance to procure arms from the criminal enterprise. During their assignment on Arvina, a Outer Rim planet, Gita offered vital long-range assistance and protection, covering her teammates' retreat and neutralizing both bandits and Imperial TIE fighters pursuing them. Aboard Valance's cruiser, the Broken Wing, stationed on Heva, she operated the ship's armaments, engaging incoming TIE fighters. Upon landing, Gita and her companions confronted Vader, only to be overcome by the Sith Lord.

After the mission's failure and the exposure of her true identity to Valance, Gita relocated to the rebel outpost on the jungle planet Lowik, residing there alongside Aeliar. Following Valance's agreement to supply the rebels with weapons, using the payment from their initial Vader hunt, the two facilitated the migration of Valance's homeworld, Chorin's population to Lowik. Despite Gita's invitation to join the Alliance, Valance declined, choosing to continue his bounty hunting profession and departing Lowik.

Biography

Hunting Prowess

On the planet Mytar, Gita, a human, received early hunting instruction from another human. During a hunting expedition, as Gita aimed at an animal, her instructor advised her to take a breath and anticipate the animal's movement. After Gita fired her sniper rifle, only wounding the animal, the instructor pointed out that the meat would be ruined, as the animal would exhaust itself until it bled out. She was cautioned that in combat, they would become the hunted, and she must only shoot to kill.

Team Dynamics

"Urrr'k" (second from right) stands with her team.

During the Imperial Era, Gita functioned as a covert operative for the Rebel Alliance. She eventually adopted the guise of "Urrr'k," a Tusken Raider sniper, attracting the attention of the Hidden Hand criminal network. Gwi, the syndicate's leader who posed as a mere messenger, identified and recruited Gita. She was then integrated into a team tasked with hunting down and eliminating Darth Vader, the Sith Lord. When Gwi recruited the team's leader, Beilert Valance, a cyborg bounty hunter, in 1 BBY, he described the disguised rebel as a highly competent sniper with a mysterious past. Alongside Valance, Gita was joined by Arr-Nine-Nineteen, a droid claiming to be a Jedi hunter, Chio Fain, an Ardennian slicer, Honnah, a Gamorrean tracker, and Dengar, a seasoned bounty hunter.

Following Valance's meeting with the team, Gita witnessed the cyborg dismantling Arr-Nine-Nineteen, who was revealed to be a Hutt Clan spy posing as a Jedi hunter. With the team assembled, their mission commenced. Gita subsequently contacted the rebel base located within the Fellio Asteroid Belt in the Outer Rim, informing her superior, Aeliar, of their mission's start. This allowed the rebels to begin acquiring weaponry from the Hidden Hand, as Vader was occupied with addressing those attempting to assassinate him. Unbeknownst to Gita, Valance had already discerned that she was not a genuine Tusken Raider, as they typically remained on their homeworld of Tatooine.

Gita provided covering fire for her team on Arvina.

The team journeyed to Arvina in the Outer Rim aboard Valance's cruiser, the Broken Wing, where they contacted Fetya, a Besalisk arms dealer, to procure weapons. Valance instructed Gita to remain behind and provide sniper support while the rest of the team met with Fetya in Fetya's Hollow. Despite stating his distrust, Valance acknowledged Gita's skill as a sniper. When the deal with Fetya deteriorated and the Empire attacked the settlement, Gita eliminated Fetya's associates and covered her team's retreat, shooting down several TIE fighters in the process.

Clash on Heva

After leaving Arvina, the team proceeded to a Hidden Hand outpost on Heva, where they contacted Wef, another arms dealer, requesting bot-drones, weapons initially intended for the Empire but abandoned due to their unstable technology. Using electrobinoculars, Gita observed the interaction between Wef, Dengar, and Honnah. Vader and his forces soon arrived aboard the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Formidable, having received information about the team's location from Dengar, who was acting as his informant.

The disguised rebel then accompanied Valance and Fain aboard the Broken Wing, utilizing the bot-drones to attack the Star Destroyer. Gita manned the cruiser's laser cannons, engaging TIE fighters. However, Vader attacked the Broken Wing in his personal TIE Advanced x1, incapacitating Gita. After Fain successfully destroyed the Star Destroyer using the bot-drones, Valance landed his damaged ship, and Gita fled with the others. Using the resulting dust cloud as cover, the team targeted Vader, who had landed and activated his lightsaber.

Despite Valance's orders to hold their positions, Fain and Honnah charged toward Vader, with Fain firing his blasters. When Vader deflected the blaster bolts, one shattered Gita's mask, while another struck Valance in the chest. With her face revealed, Gita rushed to Valance's aid, exposing her true identity. As Valance prepared to confront Vader, Gita witnessed the deaths of Fain and Honnah. Recalling her training on Mytar, the sniper distracted Vader with gunfire but was then subdued by Vader's Force abilities. Gita's actions gave Valance the time needed to approach the Sith and attach an electro-pulse device to his cape. However, Valance was paralyzed and captured when Dengar betrayed the team and electrocuted the cyborg.

Life on Lowik

Following Valance's capture, Gita journeyed to the rebel outpost on the jungle planet Lowik and rejoined Aeliar. Later, she suggested resuming her Urrr'k persona, but Aeliar informed her that the Hidden Hand had become inactive, necessitating a search for a new weapons supplier. Gita responded that no one would deal with the Alliance. Valance, who had been freed by Vader, then arrived, revealing the location of a Hidden Hand outpost and claiming to know where the rebels could acquire more weapons.

After Valance departed for the Hidden Hand's main outpost in an asteroid field, Aeliar expressed concerns about trusting the cyborg. Gita argued that they had no alternative and assured her that Valance would secure the weapons needed to fight the Empire. While Valance was at the outpost, the two rebels allowed the people of Chorin, Valance's homeworld, to seek refuge in the rebel base in exchange for the weapons Valance would provide to the Alliance. This prevented a massacre of the immigrants by the Empire. Upon the cyborg's return, Gita offered Valance a position in the Rebellion. However, he declined and left to continue his bounty-hunting career, but not before supplying the rebels with the promised weapons using the payment from their failed Vader assassination mission. By 3 ABY, Lieutenant Kondra succeeded Gita and Aeliar's position at Lowik.

Personality and traits

Gita was trained to be a hunter.

As Urrr'k, Gita communicated with her team solely in the Tusken language, presenting a stoic demeanor. Despite Beilert Valance's initial distrust, Gita recognized his combat expertise and later assured Aeliar of his skills and potential value to the Rebel Alliance. When inviting Valance to join them, Gita noted that while he may not be intelligent, he was a courageous warrior. Gita also possessed a belief in the Force, frequently using variations of the phrase "May the Force be with you." Gita had black hair, blue eyes, and a light complexion.

Skills and abilities

Gita's hunting experiences on Mytar made her a skilled marksman, capable of eliminating targets at long range with her sniper rifle and disabling TIE fighters by targeting their wings. Gwi described her to Valance as being able to eliminate a target from half a planet away.

Equipment

As a sharpshooter, Gita primarily used a sniper rifle. While hunting on Mytar, she wore light-colored outfit that covered her entire body, except for her face. Later, as an undercover agent, Gita wore Tusken Raider attire and used electrobinoculars to observe Wef, Honnah, and Dengar's conversation on Heva. Upon returning to Aeliar on Lowik, she wore a brown jacket with brown gloves and pants.

Behind the scenes

Gita debuted as Urrr'k in the first issue of the 2019 comic-book series Star Wars: Target Vader, penned by Robbie Thompson, illustrated by Marc Laming and Cris Bolson, and released by Marvel Comics on July 3, 2019. Her identity as the rebel agent Gita was revealed in the series' fourth issue, also written by Thompson, illustrated by Stefano Landini, and released on October 9, 2019. The first issue's cover depicts Gita in disguise, wielding a gaderffii stick, though she never uses one in the series.

Prior to the comic's release, assistant editor Tom Groneman indirectly introduced the character by mentioning Valance's team at a panel during Star Wars Celebration Chicago in April 2019, which was later detailed in a StarWars.com article on April 15.
