Plot summary

Alongside his street-kid companion, Trever Flume, Ferus Olin makes his way back to Coruscant. The state of the Jedi Temple deeply shocks him. Ferus's purpose in coming to the Temple is to locate a Jedi, whom he believes to be Fy-Tor-Ana. Ferus and Trever secretly enter the Temple, evading stormtroopers as they search for the room where the missing Jedi is being held. Ferus discovers that Inquisitor Malorum has established his office within the former living quarters of Yoda. Subsequently, Ferus overhears Malorum mentioning that Darth Vader is en route to the Temple. Ferus also observes that the Empire has confiscated every single lightsaber, storing them together in one room. He later overhears Vader informing Malorum of the Emperor's plan to eradicate the lower levels of Coruscant, believing them to harbor numerous rebellious individuals. After being spotted by Vader, Ferus escapes the Temple with Trever. Vader appears unconcerned.

Ferus then seeks assistance from Dexter Jettster. He discovers that Dex has either relocated or been evicted. Ferus encounters a woman who directs him to the underlevels. Upon arriving there, Ferus finds Dexter living among several people who identify as the Erased. The Erased consist of Coruscant residents who have become enemies of the Empire. Dexter informs Ferus that he spoke with Fy-Tor. Dex relays Fy-Tor's message to seek out Solace when needed. Ferus, Trever, and the remaining Erased members embark on a search for Solace, while Dexter remains behind. During their search, a gang of Coruscanti attacks the group. Amidst the chaos, Trever uncovers a hidden passageway. The group later travels down this passageway, which leads them beneath Coruscant's surface. There, they encounter a man who identifies himself as Guide, leading them further down the passageway. Ferus and the group then witness a multitude of people residing beneath the surface, all worshiping Guide. Ferus then deduces that Guide is actually a woman, not a man, and that this woman is Fy-Tor-Ana. Fy-Tor-Ana has abandoned her former name, adopting the name Solace. Ferus then informs Solace about the asteroid where he is gathering Jedi. To Ferus's astonishment, Solace declines to accompany him. Ferus informs her that Vader is likely aware of Solace's presence in the underlevels, and that Malorum and Vader intend to sweep the area entirely. This information still fails to persuade Solace. Ferus then reveals the existence of the lightsabers. Subsequently, Solace suggests returning to the Temple, finally agreeing to accompany Ferus. She seeks to uncover the Empire's plans for the Erased and all others in the underlevels, and she intends to reclaim the lightsabers. She proposes utilizing the new turbolift shaft constructed during the Clone Wars. Ferus, not being a Jedi at the time, was unaware of this addition to the Temple. They concur on this plan. Ferus, Solace, and Trever depart in Solace's makeshift spacecraft, heading towards the Temple.

Upon reaching the Temple, Solace's spacecraft successfully navigates the turbolift shaft. They opt to visit Malorum's office first. They discover that Malorum's office has been emptied. Trever realizes that the Empire intends to detonate the entire Temple using a variation of a sleeper bomb. They race through the Temple, attempting to reach the core generator in time to deactivate the bomb. They encounter attack droids, which they quickly neutralize. Trever locates the Generator and the bomb, and Ferus successfully shuts down the generator. Assured that the bomb will not detonate, Ferus bisects it and disposes of it. The group then hears the sound of stormtroopers. They spot Malorum leading the stormtroopers. He shouts, "Find them!" The troopers then surge through the halls, some riding on AT-RTs. The three flee back to Solace's ship. When Ferus is certain that Solace and Trever are aboard the ship, he begins to board, but at least 50 stormtroopers materialize. Ferus realizes that if Solace waits for him, they will all be captured or killed. Ferus tells Trever, "I'll be back!" Trever and Solace are reluctant to abandon Ferus, but Ferus instructs Solace to ensure Trever's safety. Solace complies and escapes in her spacecraft. Ferus is apprehended by the Imperial forces.

Ferus is confined to a jail cell, where Malorum enters to interrogate him. Ferus refuses to disclose the name of the Jedi he met on Bellassa, despite knowing it is Obi-Wan Kenobi. Malorum informs Ferus that he is being deported to a prison planet, and that failure to reveal the name will result in his execution for crimes against the Empire.

Solace pilots her spacecraft back to her base beneath the surface. Trever is enraged at her for abandoning Ferus to his fate, but Solace assures him that they will retrieve him. She informs him that the ordeal is not over; they had not fully escaped. Solace then hears a scream and a laser blast. They then witness a member of the Erased, Keets Freely, rushing towards them, covered in blood. He collapses at Trever's feet. Trever realizes that Solace was correct; the ordeal was not over. He seizes a weapon and prepares himself for the battle against the stormtroopers….
