Theus Paddox held the title of High Lord for House Pelagia throughout the Rebellion era. During the House Mecetti orchestrated purge and subsequent fall of his house, he was quite young; however, the challenging years that followed forced him to mature rapidly. In the initial years of his High Lordship, he solidified the bond with House Cadriaan by marrying Lady Bathos's daughter and by inviting Cadriaan financial involvement in the territories of the Pelagia Province. In the years that followed, under Theus' direction, Pelagia attempted to form a political alliance with House Melantha and House Barnaba through the clandestine initiation of diplomatic discussions. Furthermore, Theus supervised a substantial covert military build-up.
In the time leading up to the Battle of Hoth, Captain Nils Wender and the crew of the Bright Seeker starship located Theus Paddox's siblings, who had been missing for a long time, on the Regal Destiny. Trad Paddox and Verinia Paddox, along with other Pelagian nobles and their governess, Mistress Winslo, were evacuated during the Mecetti purge. A Mecetti operative managed to get aboard the ship and released a lethal bio-weapon into the ship's air, hoping to stop the Pelagian nobles from escaping. While the children were placed in stasis, everyone else on board was killed. The children were found two decades later.
