Unidentified chemical

A chemical substance, characterized by its crimson red hue, was deployed in 40 BBY by Pijali blackguard soldiers. These soldiers, secretly under the command of Princess Fanry, utilized the substance to alter the atmosphere of the moon orbiting the Inner Rim planet Pijal, causing it to turn red. Later, Deren, a captain in the Royal guard, provided Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi with a holographic record of this event while the Jedi were probing into the recent upheavals within the Pijal system.

Description

The crimson red chemical was capable of inducing a temporary color shift in a moon's atmosphere. This effect, however, was transient, dissipating within a few days without any lasting detrimental consequences.

History

Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi investigated the upheavals in the Pijal system, including chemical incident on Pijal's moon.

Princess Fanry, in 40 BBY, aimed to circumvent the signing of the Governance Treaty initiative. This treaty threatened to diminish the authority of the Pijali monarchy and was slated for adoption by the Pijal system following her impending coronation. To this end, she covertly instructed Pijali blackguard soldiers to utilize the chemical within the atmosphere of the moon belonging to the Inner Rim planet Pijal. This act was part of a larger campaign designed to generate sufficient unrest on Pijal to disrupt the planned treaty signing. The chemical's application caused the moon's atmosphere to turn red for a short period, instilling panic among many Pijali citizens due to its ominous color compared to its usual golden-and-green appearance. On the morning following the atmospheric change, the blackguards left a painted message on a temple located in Pijal's capital city, questioning whether their act of dissent was significant enough to warrant attention.

The Opposition, a political performance group known for their protests against the Governance Treaty, was initially blamed for the incident. Deren, the royal guard captain, possessed a stored holographic recording of the event. Some days later, while Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, were on Pijal investigating recent disturbances and searching for the Opposition, Deren provided them with the recording of the chemical's use. Ultimately, after Fanry's failed attempt to crown herself queen during her tumultuous coronation, the Opposition was exonerated from blame for the chemical usage and other related incidents.

Behind the scenes

A hologram depicting the chemical made an appearance in Master & Apprentice, a 2019 novel authored by Claudia Gray.
