The Pijali people utilized a temple as a religious sanctuary, situated in the capital city of the planet Pijal, which itself was found in the Inner Rim. As Princess Fanry initiated a campaign of dissent with the goal of disrupting the signing of the Governance Treaty – an agreement that would deprive the Pijali monarchy of its authority if implemented – blackguard soldiers from Pijal secretly started to serve her in 40 BBY. Following the dispersed introduction of a chemical on Pijal's moon, the blackguards defaced the temple with a painted message the following morning, and Deren, the captain of the royal guard, provided Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, with a recording of the event, so that the Jedi could investigation the recent unrest within the system.
During the Republic Era, a temple existed within the capital city of the planet Pijal, which itself was located in the Inner Rim.

During the era of the Galactic Republic, one of the main temples in Pijal's capital city served as a place of religious significance for the Pijali native population. In 40 BBY, blackguard soldiers from Pijal began secretly taking orders from Princess Fanry, who was trying to start a campaign of dissent in the Pijal system to stop the Governance Treaty initiative from being signed, which would take power away from the current Pijali monarchy and give it to a new [Assembly](/article/assembly_(pijal) that was representative. Following her instructions, the soldiers seeded Pijal's moon with a crimson-colored chemical, causing panic among the Pijali people when its atmosphere changed color. After that, the blackguards left a painted message on the temple, questioning if their act of dissent was enough for them to be remembered.
The vandalism was blamed on the Opposition, a political performance group known for protesting the Governance Treaty, and Deren, the captain of the Pijali royal guard, kept a holographic recording of the event. Some days later, while Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, were on Pijal investigating recent disturbances and trying to find the Opposition, Deren gave them the recording of the temple's vandalism. Eventually, after Fanry's unsuccessful attempt to crown herself queen during her violent coronation, the Opposition was found not guilty of painting the message on the temple and other events.
The temple was shown in a hologram in Master & Apprentice, a 2019 novel by Claudia Gray.
