A colony ship was one vessel among several colony ships carrying human and Grizmallti refugees. These individuals were fleeing a civil war that had engulfed their home planet, Grizmallt, around 4,000 BBY. The ship experienced a catastrophic failure, resulting in a crash landing on the planet. The surviving humans from these ships then colonized the world, eventually evolving into the Naboo people. The wreckage of this colony ship was later visually represented by the symbol of the Royal House of Naboo within a holographic presentation. This display was part of Naboo's annual Festival of Light in 20 BBY, a celebration that commemorated the anniversary of Naboo's entry into the Galactic Republic.
The holographic representation of the colony ship appeared in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Crisis on Naboo," which was the eighteenth episode of its fourth season and was originally broadcast on February 10, 2012. The explanation of the symbol's significance was subsequently provided in the episode guide, published on StarWars.com. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the 2001 video game titled Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds established that three colony ships, specifically the Beneficent Tasia, the Constant, and the Mother Vima, transported Humans from the planet Grizmallt to the [planet](/article/naboo](/article/naboo-legends). However, the "Crisis on Naboo" episode guide did not specify which of these three ships ultimately crashed on Naboo.
