Unidentified Imperial lieutenant (Inspectorate)

A human Imperial officer, holding the rank of lieutenant, served within the Galactic Empire's Inspectorate during the Imperial Era. Sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, this lieutenant was stationed at the Imperial Inspectorate Command Center located on the planet of Coruscant. They informed an Imperial commander that intelligence indicated four Rebel Alliance starships were approaching the planet on what appeared to be a fast-attack trajectory. The commander then instructed the lieutenant to activate the orbital defense platforms and dispatch half of the planet's available fighter wings to intercept and eliminate the incoming attackers; the lieutenant acknowledged the order and confirmed immediate compliance.

Following the destruction of one of the rebel ships, the three remaining vessels proceeded towards their apparent target: a statue of Emperor Palpatine situated in Monument Plaza. As the rebel ships drew closer, turbolasers positioned to defend the statue engaged them, striking all three and resulting in the destruction of one. The lieutenant relayed this information to the commander, who expressed satisfaction, remaining unaware that one of the rebel ships had managed to inflict damage upon the statue itself. After the last of the rebel ships were either destroyed or had departed from Coruscant, the commander and the lieutenant went to inspect the statue, where they discovered the damage. The commander then instructed the lieutenant to remove the cam droids from the area, with the intention of preventing the damage from being broadcast across the HoloNet. The lieutenant agreed to this course of action.

Subsequently, the lieutenant attempted to highlight a positive aspect to the commander, pointing out that the rebels had suffered casualties during the attack, suggesting that they had likely deployed some of their most skilled pilots for the mission. The commander dismissed this, stating that the Emperor would not be concerned with the loss of a few rebels, and then pressed the lieutenant on how the damage to the statue had occurred. The lieutenant theorized that one of the rebel ships must have been fortunate enough to score a hit on the statue before being targeted by the turbolasers. The commander seized upon the lieutenant's use of the word "lucky," implying that Emperor Palpatine might perceive the situation differently upon his return to Coruscant. The commander then ordered the lieutenant to dispatch repair crews to the statue without delay. As they began to leave, the commander warned the lieutenant that the situation could not be hidden and that Palpatine would inevitably learn of the events and take whatever action he deemed necessary. The commander then finished by saying that the best course of action for both of them, if they wanted to survive, would be to avoid drawing the Emperor's attention to the matter any more than necessary.
